Neither are my emotions. This is the reason for me. I just don't like it. I'm hyper competitive and I hate being angry with my friends. I CAN break characters pretty well for most systems I've ever encountered. I just generally prefer not to because I GM more often than play (which is by my preference as well), and I know that players who are upset because so-and-so's character is ridiculously OP don't complain to so-and-so, they complain either to the GM, or worse, to another third party in the game, and it poisons the table.

In my table top group, we have an Actuary (actually now he's a corporate VP for an insurance firm, but he's an Actuary by original trade). He's a ruthless min/maxer powergamer sort, and he cannot help himself. He drives me insane. Good guy. I like him a lot... but gaming with him feels more like a chore. His MO is to want to tell everyone else how to build their characters, which is doubly annoying because some players take him up on it and some players resent it, and I end up with a table where half of the characters are just clearly, blatantly superior to the other characters, and the people who designed what they actually wanted to play feel like they're worthless. I've actually lost two players because of this exact problem.
Now, is my Actuary friend a jerk who just doesn't care? Nope. Like I said, good guy. He just can't help it. Which is why he needs a GM who is willing to step into the breach and say "whoa there bub."
The moral of the story is; just like people are people in all of their glorious diversity, the same is true of players, and also just like people in general, not everyone who is a pain in the ass is pure evil.
TO WHIT... while I love to poke fun at certain people around here who can't seem to not build insane CADs, most of them have generally been willing to pull it back when I've asked and it hasn't been a problem, which I would put near the top of the list of reasons why this particular community, despite not being all that large, has survived and held on to so many members. We're here because we want to enjoy the game, and we want others to enjoy the game, and that bond keeps us going.
For this particular game; its the Avengers. We should expect to have characters of widely different capacities and I'm sure Chuck knew that would be the case when he put this idea together. I know that others can wipe out Cap but I opted to play him because he's the character that I love and Chuck has a good(ish) track record with handling high stone count games. I think others are taking a similar approach, and so I don't think anyone has anything to be too worried about. This looks and feels like a real Avengers squad. Lets save the planet and worry about who can go toe-to-toe with Galactus when he's beating down our door.

Lets save the planet and worry about who can go toe-to-toe with Galactus when he's beating down our door. Thanks for the compliment! I'm still kind of flattered that a game I did almost 7 years ago is still remembered to this day... =) Actually as I think about it, I like the Kinetic Absorption idea quite a lot. It relaxes the need for a massive Toughness score because Hulk is absorbing a big chunk of incoming physical attacks, and redirecting them into strength. Flavor-wise, it actually works really well too. Things that would hurt Hulk tend to just piss him off instead... and rage is literally his fuel source. There's a nice symmetry. ... in case you guys can't tell I've been trying to come up with a good way to represent the Hulk in MURPG for ages. Yes. Exactly. This is why when I was doing my "Jr. Avengers Game" I was going to have Hulk with "Kinetic Absorption", because it fits exactly what he does. - You hit him he gets mad, gets strong, and hits you hard! - You hit him harder he gets madder, he gets stronger, and hits you harder! - You p*ss him off enough and you unleash a BEAST that's virtually uncontrollable and has virtually unlimited Strength/aggression/power! This is basically what we see in every comic/movie/show adaptation there is of him (with the exception of that pu$$y Hulk who got byched by Tony in Avengers 2). Although I thought that this would be the most "Perfect" way to build Hulk, I just never actually got around to pricing it/posting it in the "Jr. Avengers Game."

Everyone here who has already posted a CAD or wants to play, please direct your Character CADs here please. We will discuss each CAD and vote on each of them in order to start this game.

I thought we were discussing CADs here...that's why I kept posting it and asking for comments. Oh well, it's posted where you wanted it.
