... I love both of you guys, and dig having you in my games, but Dhark is in no position to complain about others making broken characters (Not that I disagree with your self-assessment)

That's easy for you to say. You're old, and weren't brought up in the era of the entitled gamer.

It's just disheartening, not a grudge/complaint.

With Thor being able to do everything Hulk can, and better, AND a slew of other things (Weather Control, Flight, etc). It doesn't even look close to a rivalry on paper!

Rinjo's Hulk IS much stronger, I just was leary about dedicating an action to Mastery every round to accomplish the STR behind the Combat (I mentioned that way back). Really detracts from the visuals of leaping about and laying waste to everything.

If I recoupe the Banner stones, I'll be tweaking for sure. Then again Cernunnos may have input and notes regardless, Banner stones aside.

Its expensive, but Rage and/or Growth and/or Kinetic Absorption (reflavored for the last two), with a +2 or so CL bump for "STR increase stones are modifier" is yet another way to look at building Hulk. This way as he ramps up, the energy output required for him to throw ridiculously powerful attacks decreases (actually, it just doesn't INcrease, but his attacks do...).

Actually as I think about it, I like the Kinetic Absorption idea quite a lot. It relaxes the need for a massive Toughness score because Hulk is absorbing a big chunk of incoming physical attacks, and redirecting them into strength.

Flavor-wise, it actually works really well too. Things that would hurt Hulk tend to just piss him off instead... and rage is literally his fuel source. There's a nice symmetry.


... in case you guys can't tell I've been trying to come up with a good way to represent the Hulk in MURPG for ages.

For hulk I would make strength a modifier +3 and collateral damage or out of control is nothing else. For 20 stones you could have 10 free stones of strength per panel.

If I know chuck he would go for that.

I think WK is spot on. If you have strength as a mod. Add kinetic absorption and rage he would be a force to tangle with!

I kind of walked that line, made a custom Rage modifier that added to STR and STR was made efficient to boot. I tagged the Auto Collateral into Close Combat though.

I wouldn't suggest that ALL of his strength should be a Modifier. Just bonus strength from Rage/Madder is Badder/whatever you want to call it. I just feel it better serves the notion that Hulk just keeps getting stronger as you try to stop him.

Kinetic Absorption is a long proposed house rule that has the same cost as Energy Absorption/Redirection. I NORMALLY think its an insanely OP bunk rule that I'd sooner spit on but allow... but we're talking about ways to build a Hulk on a budget, and I'm not such an inflexible thinker that I would suggest that all rules are equal under all circumstances. The more that I think about it, the more I like this as Hulk's baseline "power." Add "collateral damage" and "dangerous to self", maybe an additional Disadvantage that says that after a certain number of stones are redirected to Strength, Hulk can no longer tell friend from foe (or innocent from combatant...), swap the Force Blast redirect stright-up for a redirect to Strength, +2 CLs to make the Strength bump a Modifier rather than just increasing the Ability. Throw in a nice base Strength of 8 or better (as budget allows) and as much Toughness as you can afford, and BOOM! Hulk on a budget.
