Overall the movie is very fun to see. The only aspect of it I did not like was the Skrull-Earth-Kree dynamic and how it played out. Can't go into particulars because of spoilers, but I can say that overall they found a unique way for her to obtain her powers partially in line with the cannon of the comics while still being relatively fresh. I think Blank Panther was a better origin movie then Captain Marvel, but by no means was either of them measurably more enjoyable to watch then the other.

1-3 are matters of opinion, personally how Fury lost his eye made me laugh. The last person he trusted was a cat, turned out to be some weird super dangerous alien life form, and it was the cause of his loosing his eye.
4) I don't think it retcons the statement. Neither the Kree or the Skrulls were invading, Earth just ended up as the playground for their little tiff. HOWEVER, when Thor showed up and Loki dropped the Devestator on them, suddenly they faced something that could bitch slap a M1 Tank! Also, the only word that SHIELD higher command may have gotten about aliens being dangerous was ONLY from Nick Fury. But in THOR, all of SHIELD had video and eye witness testimonial .... we need bigger guns.
5) Agree they botched that up really good.
6) Agree again, as I stated a little earlier that whole Skrull-Earth-Kree dynamic was widely played out of wack.

I talked to a couple people at work about the whole Skrull sympathy thing... I didn't like it either, UNLESS they are using it to turn the tables on the audience later. I think it'd be great now that people feel bad (and expect them to be good aligned aliens) for them to show their true colors in this next phase. Then and only then might I agree with their portrayal in this movie. I just hope that is where Marvel goes.

Yeah, I find it disappointing that it wasn't even necessary to make the Skrulls sympathetic. Carol could have told both the Skrulls and Kree to GTFO her planet, and it would have been a stronger statement. The MCU needs more looming threats to feel like a living, breathing world. Thor's quote in the first Avengers summed it up nicely: "Your work with the Tesseract is what drew Loki to it, and his allies. It is the signal to all the realms that the earth is ready for a higher form of war." Well the Infinity War is wrapping up, Ronan is dead, and now the Skrulls are basically Ewoks, so... what's left? As much as I love Captain America: Civil War, we can't go back to an MCU where the biggest threat is just a guy like Zemo screwing with everyone for a weekend.
It's a shame. I was really anticipating that this movie was going to showcase the Skrulls as a major, insidious, looming threat. The Avengers cast is getting a pretty big overhaul and a lot of new faces have shown up recently, with many more on the way I'm sure; the spectre of which ones might or might not be Skrulls (and when the switch happened) would be a thrill. Maybe they can still pull it off?

Well if we need to top the Infinite Gauntlet story ark .... we can always try the Annihilation Wave ... that messed with the marvel universe pretty darn well

At some point we'll get Galactus.
