Superman is dead, killed by the monster the media is calling Doomsday. The super hero community has mourned. The monument has been erected. The world goes on, but for how long without the guiding light of Superman?
Renowned tech mogul Lex Luthor has an answer; Project Supermen. Now you too can honor the legacy of Superman by stepping up to help Lex defend Metropolis... and the world! Lex has developed a number of different programs to give ordinary people superhuman abilities and join one of Lex's teams. If you've ever dreamed of being the hero that both saves and inspires Metropolis, now is your chance! Just come to any LexMed facility to see if you qualify!
*****************************************************************************************************************
With Superman's death, Lex Luthor finally has his opportunity to be the most loved man in the world... and the most powerful. There's just one problem; his plan to implant Superman's DNA in himself has hit a snag. The ability of Kryptonian cells to store solar energy eventually overwhelms ordinary human cells, killing the subject. In order to secure for himself a large pool of test subjects, he's creating super hero teams of his own, heroes created by and beholden to him and him alone, disposable heroes that he can both experiment on and use to gain the good will of the people.
On the surface, the only requirement to apply is that the subject must be an ordinary (unpowered) human being and at least 18 years of age, but in reality, LexMed is searching for those who have little to no family, those whose eventual (and presumably inevitable) deaths won't be mourned, and also for those with genetic defects or terminal illnesses that can be blamed.
Powers can be varied, but (whether the characters realize it or not), they are all reliant on Lex's "Compound K" being present in the subject's system (and of course, Lex controls the flow of Compound K). For instance a character might have a power ring similar to that of a Green Lantern or a suit of powered armor, but these ONLY function so long as Compound K is present. None of the subjects are aware of Compound K; Lex has masked the true nature of their new powers by creating a series of theatrical processes making it seem as if the new "heroes" are getting their powers through varying means.
Here are the hitches;
1) The characters are effectively indentured servants to Lex. In exchange for giving them powers, they've signed ironclad non-disclosure agreements and employment contracts. They'll serve on his "Supermen of America" teams... or else.
2) Compound K is HIGHLY addictive, and the characters aren't initially aware that it even exists. Without a steady does, they'll go through brutal withdrawal symptoms.
3) Compound K is lethal. Kryptonian cells collect and store solar energy to fuel superhuman abilities. Human cells are not capable of handling this long term. In short, the more powerful the subject, the faster the burnout. Eventually the cells begin to break down. This is the problem Lex is trying to solve through these experiments.
Character Creation is as follows
40 stones (using my house rules, found in my sig below)
up to 10 stones in challenges
PLUS 3 the 3 stone specific challenge "Compound K" (which includes both the negative effects of the Compound itself, and the character's employment by Lex)
If you've got questions feel free to ask
