Piston looks around.
"Can't say I know anything, just what I read in the paper. What the heck are these things anyway?"

Bobby coach arrives. "All right guys lets go!", he proceeds to lead the team through practice excercises.
The monster bursts into flanme as Askari prepares for another spell.
Silas cannot see any signs of any other monsters. Phanalax looks down the enterance to the sewers but can't see anything out of the ordinary. Piston seems to remember hearing rumors about such monsters, but not anything in particular.

Bobby knew that things were going to be just fine, he was feeling great, and he'd just clobbered a great big sewer monster, completely alone (at least that's what he'd tell people). Without wasting a second he left his towel on one of the benches and dived in, performing a few warm-up laps and showing off his skill at swimming. If the team followed his example, then how could they possibly lose? Though it still bothered him a little as to why the doc had wanted to see him, and why he had mentioned about the monster in the sewers.

Phalanx squatted down and pulled his mask back over his face.
"I don't need any transportation. But thank you for offering. This world is new to me. I say we make these monsters strangers to it as well."
Phalanx slid forward and straightened as he went down the manhole. (OOC: If this weren't a one shot, I would so ask for LOE's for something that cheesy and badass at the same time. ;D )
=========== Health: 5 Energy: 15 (R7)

Back into the glorious sewers. Silas mentally rebuked himself for even jokingly wishing the monsters would fight on the surface. He couldn't smell the sewers, but he wasn't fool enough to think that made them nicer.
"Phalanx has the right idea, I hope you all have a means of lighting your way."
With that he floated down into the hole.

It seems like each one of these guys that Kevin meets has powers more fantastic than the last. To be honest kevin was not sure that these guys really even needed him around. Maybe his time would be better spent looking for his father. It seems as if his particular skills might not be required for this mission. Still looking for his father had been so emotionally draining. Kevin's continual inability to find his father had left him emotionally drained. Besides succeeding at something even if this team didn't really need him might boost his spirits.
Kevin follows the rest of the group down the hole.

His spell almost complete, Askari prepared to go top side. With a bounty on his head, he couldn't go topside anymore unless his features were hidden. He raised his hood, pulled up his turtle neck so that it covered his mouth and nose and lastly, his sunglasses, which he wore to conceal his eyes. The earlier encounter with the grey mutant left its toll on the glasses, the sewer minions 'grip' leaving cracks webbing out in both lenses. Askari didn't have time to fetch a new pair, Silas already had a lead on him.
Askari teleported to the surface looking for signs of Silas, leaving the charred remains of the monster behind. His wrap-around sunglass failing to mask the glow of his eyes as he prepared another spell, their light seeping through the fine cracks.

Silas waited at the landing for everyone, informing them of the monsters as they descended.
"They're just the monsters that New Yorkers thought were down here for years finally manifested. The one above was a scout breed, it's not the only kind. Their attacks have become more frequent lately on account of an individual I think. Aside from that I can tell you little, they don't seem to have an objective aside from violence. Be warned, they're all dangerous enough and there's more down here than just them. I encountered a man not ten minutes ago with the power to walk through walls and teleport. He teleported away so I don't know much else about him, I wasn't friendly but he wasn't cooperative either."
He gestured down the path in the direction he'd been going when he had met "Iboki" before.
"I was going that way earlier, the other way is just slime trails leading back here."
OOC: I assumed Silas had entered the hole before Askari teleported to the street. It's kinda funny that he just missed him as he tells the others about it.

The sudden entrance to the top world was disorienting. Using a hand to shelter his eyes from the setting sun, Askari took in his surroundings while his eyes adjusted. The streets were surprisingly bare, it seems that the monsters have already started launching attacks in New York. A curfew or plain common sense kept people inside. Overhead there was a single powered armour flying a patrol, most likely a cop or a merc. There were many foot prints in the slush that must have been yesterdays snow. The prints were recent, as the wind had not yet begun to obscure their paths that traced back and forth from the man hole and the alleyway. Askari was no expert, but he thought there might have been near half a dozen people who had meet here, for whatever reason, just a little while ago. A regular town meeting after curfew. Askari paced a couple of steps forward bringing the alleyway into full view. Crumpled against a brick wall, with it's head half flattened, was a scout, its' blood still oozing on the concrete. Freshly dead then. No doubt that telekinesis mutant, Silas, had a hand in the scouts demise. The head wound looked like it came from something circular with diameter of 30" or so. Perhaps he used man hole cover? If Silas was hunting mutants, why would he bother coming topside? There were plenty of those things down below. If he was planning on leaving the sewers and then accidentally bumped into the scout why did he turn around and go back down the sewers? It was almost as if he had known exactly where this scout was going to be and when. In fact, the whole thing looked premeditated, what were the odds that 6 different people would meet together at one exact point, at one exact time, after curfew when any reasonable person would be behind locked doors? They must have arranged a meeting beforehand, it was much more likely then the alternative. Why then would the scout approach such a group of people? Scouts, in general, were both clever and cowardly, and they certainly wouldn't try and ambush any number of powerful humanoids while outnumbered. Then wh... to deliver a message. That must be it. The scout would leave hiding then, if the right person came. Were all six of them in league with the Sewer King? That could easily explain why and how they chose to meet here, they came to receive orders. That would also explain Silas' effort to force Askari topside via telekinesis. He knew he had several friends aboveground who could quickly surround Askari and kill him before he could mount a defense against all of them. Bastards who served the Sewer King wouldn't hesitate to kill anyone in their way. The scouts death to the hands of its allies could be attributed to any number of 'maybe's. Maybe the orders were insulting to some of the members and they killed the 'bearer of bad news' as it were. Maybe it had to be slain to avoid suspicion - there were patrols about - maybe one interrupted at an inopportune time. Maybe the thing had simply served its purpose, and the mutant Silas killed it because he enjoyed watching things die. A likely sentiment to have, if he worked for the Sewer King. The situation turned out to be more dire then what Askari had originally thought. The Sewer King had not one but maybe six captains above the sewers, and if Silas was any marker of general power they were all very strong. To complicate matters they were just given orders that had sent the majority of them into the sewers. With supers leading his forces, maybe the Sewer King has grown confident enough to finally order a full scale assault on New York. Whatever the orders were, they couldn't bode well. Silas and his allies had to be stopped...

Phalanx c ocked his gun allowing a bullet to enter the chamber and shoulder the rifle. His eyes adjusted immediately to the absence of light and he stepped forward lightly. He spoke without turning and called out to Silas.
"Where was it that you came from when you were down here? We might be able to better track the monsters if we know where they DIDN'T come from."
