*Ben hangs his head, mentally kicking himself for letting the bad guy get away....*
"So what do you guys say we get something to eat and figure out our next move...before I waste away here...."

While waiting for the hazmat expert, Spider-Man returns with a cup from Kwikkee Burger. [Kwikkee Burger was featured in Marvel Team-Up 131] Captain America, Captain Marvel and the Thing only know that Spidey disappeared for a little while and then returned with a cup from a fast food joint. The Thing's core growls with hunger... and possibly a darker anti-Spider-Man emotion as well.
The tension is broken by the arrival of someone wearing a full body protective suit, like those featured by scientists in the movie E.T.. The weird figure is holding a bizzare, Ghostbusters-like, detection device. It [no way to tell if this is a man or a woman] first scans Captain Marvel from head to toe. It then turns its attention to Captain America's shield, followed by Spider-Man and the then the Thing.
"These readings are interesting," a garbled voice says from within the astronaught like helmet. "The shield shows levels of radiation equivalent to the back doorway of the Krupp building. The woman is reading at slightly higher levels, but still non-lethal. The other two have just a trace of gamma radiation, like in the park."
"Thank you for joining us officer Helgenberger." The head cop says to the newcomer.
"No problem," the hazmat expert says, removing her helmet to reveal a beautiful face and long strawberry blonde hair. She then looks toward Spider-Man and adds, "Kwikkee Burger?!? You four heroes can come walk with me to the hotel. I'll make sure you get some real food. Also, if you don't mind me asking, how did you all get covered with radioactive isotopes?"
The woman stops off at a mobile decontamination station, so she and all of the heroes can be cleansed before entering the lobby of the old Hotel Claire, now a busy crisis center.

Officer Helgenberger has a look of appreciation on her face at hearing Captain Marvel's scientific interest. "Radioactive isotopes, also called radioisotopes, are chemical elements whose nuclei are unstable. They dissipate excess energy by spontaneously emitting radiation in the form of alpha, beta, and/or gamma rays. We found a good number of these floating about the area. Higher concentrations were detected around that big hole in the ground in front of the Krupp Building, around the back door of the lobby, on Captain America's shield, and all over you."

* Ben grumbles under his breath, his stomach growling in anticipation of food. His thoughts aren't on the conversation at hand, but he hears the explanation of the isotopes and finds it sorta amusing. Maybe one of them will become more of a freak, like him, disfigured and deformed, and then someone else other then Ben will know how it feels to be a "Thing".*
* Ben's thoughts really don't mean harm to anyone, his frustration at being an circus oddity just get the better of him, so he dismisses the thoughts of anyone else having to become like him and returns to his thoughts of .....FOOD!*

Officer Helgenberger leads the heroes into a hotel conference room with a large table and a bulletin board. There are four telephones and eight phone books on the table. A map of Manhattan and it's surrounding boroughs is attached to the board with masking tape.

"Ten Four," the woman responds into the CB. After listening to what sounds like mostly static she says. "Understood. The vehicle is not stolen. I've got four super-heroes in Conference Room B, do you think we can get these super-heroes some super hero sandwiches super quick?" She smiles at the Thing. "Thank you. Helgenberger over and out."

Captain Marvel, no stranger to police procedures, begins to start her search. grabbing a telephone and a telephone book she starts looking for her rent a truck company.

The Thing is almost done eating when Captain Marvel finally calls the right office. The LGM Rent-A-Truck agency where the getaway truck was rented is in a sleazy section of town, about three miles from the Krupp building.

Down the hall from the others, Spider-Man determines that the oily subtance is oil, mixed with traces of soda and paper cup particles. Just as he finishes cleaning up, Captain America enters the room alerting him that Captain Marvel discovered the location where the truck was rented from. Above him, Peter notices the time on a wall clock. It is now 3:35 PM.
[Spider-Man heals back 1 white stone of Health, returning him to full Health.]

" GOTCHA!" Captain Marvel exclaims as she hangs up the phone, " We just have to look at the map to see where it is." Captain Marvel goes over to the map and puts a tack on the location. Now what's by there.

Captain Marvel is a native of New Orleans, and commutes to the Avengers mansion via her ability to fly at light speed in energy form. Unfortunately, this means she's not familiar with the neighborhood of the LGM Rent-A-truck agency in question.
Captain America returns to the room where Captain Marvel and the Thing are, with Spider-Man in tow. The wall-crawler was in another room inspecting some goo he collected using the limited police equipment brought over to the hotel.
"What's the plan?" Spider-Man asks. "OHH come on we gotta have a plan. Don't we?"

" Well, I am not familiar with this area," Captain Marvel explains," But here's where the Rent-A-Truck Agency is( pointing at the tack she just placed), so what's by there boys? Maybe we should just go to the area and beat the streets around there looking for a nefarious hide out." Captain Marvel flashes a playful smile.
