MISSION 5: END OF THE LINE
| The first sound you hear as you regain consciousness is Doc Ock's creepy voice. "I'm sorry that I couldn't be here to see you all destroyed. Fortunately, I have a date to smash New York. Of course, it's too bad you can't see my Octodroid in action, it's rather impressive. don't bother trying to find me, this is a recording. HAHAHAHA!"
Spider-Man
You are in a 30-foot-square room. There's a tiny hatch in the middle of the ceiling, 15 feet overhead. The concrete walls look like the painted blue bottom of a swimming pool.
A gate in one wall begins to rise, and hundreds of gallons of sea water pour in. The room is filling quickly. Suddenly, a long tentacle writhes to the surface of the water. Attached to the tentacle is the gray-green body of a giant squid. Your spider-sense is screaming danger!
Spider-Man's Health: 3/4 Spider-Man's Energy: 4/9
Captain America Your back is pressed against an iron beam and your wrists are tied together behind it. The ropes around your chest and arms make it difficult to breath. Your shield is loaded in a giant slingshot pointed right at your chest!
Captain America's Health: 3/4 Captain America's Energy: 3/9
The Thing You wake up holding back a loaded giant slingshot, aimed straight at Doctor Doom, who's tied to a post. The slingshot is hard to hold, but your feet are firmly planted on a metal grate, and that helps. You don't feel in control of your mind, but somehow you know that you must wait until you hear a bell before you fire the slingshot.
Thing's Health: 5/6 Thing's Energy: 5/15 [Unable to control his actions.]
Captain Marvel You wake up in total darkness, trapped in a rather large box. The walls, floor, and ceiling are all made of a very hard, smooth metal. There is no apparent exit.

Cap shook his head to trie and clear the remaining drowzieness. First he wasent sure what had happened, but as the tape played, he quickly realized the terrible outcome of the fight. "Dammit... How could we have lost to those villains?? Where was the rest??" Cap looked around the room, trying to find out where he was, hoping to get a glimps of the others... "MARVEL, THING, SPIDERMAN!! Can any of you hear me??" He then tries to test the ropes, however, he dosent count on the Doctor had gone easy on him.... Spider-Man Spider-Man zip-lines up to the hatch in the reinforced concrete ceiling, but is unable to open it.
The water rises three feet and now the giant squid is a mere 12 feet below the spectacular Spider-Man.

Captain America and the Thing "MARVEL, THING, SPIDERMAN!! Can any of you hear me??"

Peering into the shadows the the room, Captain America can now make out a large bulky figure holding the slingshot back. It's the Thing!

Spiderman doesn’t need his spidey senses telling him he’s in trouble, he needs a way out of here. He shots his web at the squid’s tentacles trying to gum up as many as possible, then takes a lung full of air and dives into the water to the gate below. Action 2 ranged combat + 6 for web shooters to tangle up as much of the squid as possible maybe he will try to get unstuck rather than harass me. 2 stone to speed to swim to the gate where the water comes from 3/4 1/9

"Dam you Dr. Octopus... What have you done!!" "THING!! Whatever they have done to you FIGHT IT!! You have to fight it, or they will unleash that foul robot upon the city..." =====================================

*Ben's arms were getting tired. Yet for some reason he was unable to let go. In fact he was unable to do much of anything, he couldn't even call for help as it seemed his mouth would not do what he wanted it to. Ben tried to gather his thoughts, tried to think of something strong enough that he could regain control of even his own body.
His thoughts drifted from the Frankie, to Alicia. To the battle they had obviously lost, to the pretzel vendor. To the burning building they had survived, to the trip in space that had created him like this.
His head filled with so many thoughts and people that he wasn't even sure he was in control of those.*

Spider-Manspider-Man learns that it's difficult to swim against the current. The water is just rushing in far too quickly! The slowly opening gate is also blocked by the tentacles that Spidey didn't web up. The hero is now below 6 feet of water and the squid begins to spray a thick black ink into the water! Spider-Man's Health: 3/4 Spider-Man's Energy: 5/12 Captain America and the ThingThe Thing's thoughts drifted from Frankie to Alicia, to the battle they had obviously lost, to the pretzel vendor, to the burning building they had survived, to the trip in space that had made him like this... to Captain America shouting "THING!! Whatever they have done to you FIGHT IT!! You have to fight it, or they will unleash that foul robot upon the city!" This last image was unlike the other images. It was somehow more real and louder. Captain America's head first appears on the body of Doctor Doom, tied to a pilar. then Doctor Doom's face appears on Captain America's body. Finally, Ben realizes he is holding Captain America's sheild in a giant slingshot aimed at Captain America with Doctor Doom nowhere in sight! Spider-Man Peter Parker recalls that squids squirt ink when they are frightened. Well, this squid appears to be pretty darn frightened because it now looks like Spidey's wearing his black symbiote costume again. The thick black ink is also making it impossible for Spidey to see! Add the fact that Spider-Man is running out of air and that makes two frightened creatures in the water.
At least Spidey's not getting squeezed at the moment, his webs must be doing their thing. However, that's only the best guess he can make under 9 feet of dark murky water.
Spider-Man's Health: 3/4 Spider-Man's Energy: 1/12 [See DROWNING AND SUFFOCATING rules on Page 1 of The Classified Section (OOO) for why the Energy is so low.]
Captain America and the Thing Before the Thing can break Captain America free, he has to do something about the shield which is about ready to launch from the giant slingshot.
From his vantage point on the metal grate, Ben can try aiming to the left or right, but it may not be enough to miss Captain America. Plus who knows what or who it'll smash into. For all he knows Web-Head and Captain Marvel are stuffed in one of the boxes or barrels nearby. The Thing can aim high and hope to hit the beam just above Captain America's head. However, if he's wrong about the tragectory, he may have to call the guy Captain Headless from then on. Cap's legs and feet are not tied down, so Thing could also aim low, near the floor. However, if Captain America doesn't cooperate, we may have to call him Captain Peglegs from then on.
Reed Richards, a.k.a. Mr. Fantastic, would know what to do. But that egg-head isn't here to calculate the physics of moving objects, air tragectories and statistical probabilities. It's up to Ben Grimm and perhaps also Eeny, Meeny, Miney and Moe.
Captain America's Health: 3/4 Captain America's Energy: 10/12
Thing's Health: 5/6 Thing's Energy: 7/18 [Note: You can use Ranged Combat to aim.]
Captain Marvel Captain Marvel's x-ray form is repelled by the wall like it was one of those heavy metal-mesh bibs patients have to wear at the dentist when they get their teeth x-rayed. I can only begin to imagine what Captain Marvel feels like, trapped in this small enclosed room. When I was just a little kid, my brother once tricked me into going into a toybox and then sat on the lid so I couldn't get out. Maybe Monica Rambeau feels like that.
I got out of the box by yelling, "MOMMY!!!!". However, I don't think that solution will fair as well for Monica. Now excuse me while I go think up ways to get revenge on my older brother for his past misdeeds. ;-)
