Jack appears to be taking care of himself fairly well. But Peter is not so sure that Marcy is safe with all these metal men charging in. "I'll save you...", says Spider-Man in a gallant voice, as he swings in and attempts to move Marcy to safety. Once she is safely out of the fray he'll try to even the odds by webbing two of the metal men. "I'm sorry Mr. Tin Man, but I think you're in the wrong storybook!"

Action 1. 6 stones. Web-Slinging to attempt to swoop in and bring Marcy to safety. 2 of the stones shifted to defense.
Action 2. 2 stones into ranged combat. With a +6 Web shooter mod to attempt to web a couple of the tin men. 4 stones to one and 4 stones to another.

Now that Marcy appeared to be more safely situated, Spider-man could turn his full attention to the self-dubbed Jack of Hearts and the tin men. He crouched warily as he surveyed the strange scene unfolding before him.
As usual, Peter was quick to quip, "Judging from Marcy's story, it sounds more like you're a Spade, but I digress. So what are you after Jack? I'd offer to play, but I was never all that good at poker." Maybe that'll buy me a little time to see what's going on. Villains usually love to yak it up. He sure looks like the gloating type. Hmm who are all these tin men?

Action 1: 2 stones. Social skills to see what Jack wants and hopefully stall him by encouraging him to talk.
Action 2: 3 stones. Int to try to figure out who the tin men are and their likely motives.

Apparently not being the type to gloat, the Jack of Hearts directs blasts of energy downward from his hands, thrusting himself headfirst into a trio of what now look to Spidey like S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and then right through the outer wall of the building!

Wow! That was impressive.
It looks to Pete like the agents are going to pursue.

Peter Parker is unsure who exactly the bad guy is here. He now recognized the tin men as being from SHIELD. He looked over to Marcy. "So is your boyfriend there a good guy or a bad guy? He didn't say muhaha in so many words... but he must be on the run for doing something!" Spidey mused to himself. Something about this just doesn't add up. Why would he come looking for his ex-girlfriend if SHIELD is after him, and why is SHIELD after him in the first place?

Marcy looks as confused as Spider-Man feels, but as most of the armored agents take to the skies after the Jack of Hearts, two remain to free themselves from Spidey's webbing.
"You mean you don't know you're fighting the U.S. government?!?" One of the webbed men says.
"Get this webbing off us!" The other demands. "We've got a job to do! The Jack of Heart's power is unstable! Each time he uses it, it kills him a little bit more --- and if he dies, the resultant explosion may just take half this city with it!"
In the skies, two more armored S.H.I.E.L.D. agents close in on Jack, but the superhuman does a loop-de-doo at the last second. So instead of grabbing the Jack of Hearts, the two agents collide right into each-other!

"Oops," says Spidey as he swung away,"I must have missed the memo! Don't worry boys. I'll go catch that Jack of Hearts guy. Can't have him blowing up half of my neighborhood, now can I?" Spiderman closed in on his target as he zipped through New York City's skyline at speeds of 125 mph. When he finally could get a good bead on his target below, he unloosed a huge salvo of webbing. Indeed it looked like an expanding web net as it shot towards the Jack of Hearts.

Spidey finds the Jack of Hearts still flying above campus, further up than even Pete can web-sling. Two agents in powered exoskeletons are on Heart's tail. Jack looks about to blast them with that strange pink energy from his hands, when Spidey's web surrounds him.
"No! I won't be locked away again!"

Spider-man makes his best attempt to soothe Jack,"Calm down man. If you explode you're going to take half the city with you, and that INCLUDES Marcy! Tell me, do you really want to do that? If you really love her, just do what's right."
Spider-man isn't sure that his calming speech is going to work and so readies another web attack in case Jack of Heart decides to go on a rampage. I just hope he still cares enough to realize what he's doing. You never can tell with the unstable types...

"There is no cure for me! They can only contain me!" Jack of Heart's shouts breaking free of Spider-Man's webbing with a burst of energy. "And I won't be locked away, again!"
However, the Jack of Hearts can be webbed up again and he is.
"Look out! He's energizing!" one of the SHIELD agents exclaim.
"Flood him!" a second orders. Then three of the tin men spray some kind of mist from their wrists at the Jack of Hearts.

It looked to Spider-man as if trying to calm down the Jack of Hearts was just a waste of energy. Therefore he stayed on standby to web up the guy again if need be. "This is where I say take him away boys, right?" Marcy sure knows how to pick em! thought Peter to himself.

Spider-man appeared puzzled. "Look buddy, you haven't explained anything to me. All I know is that you could blow up half the city and yourself unless you calm down. I'm quite fond of NYC, so I'd rather that didn't happen. Can't exactly be the friendly neighborhood Spider-man if there's no neighborhood, you dig?" Peter then turns to address one of of the tin men, "What exactly did he do anyways?"

Now the Jack of Hearts is completely covered in a cocoon of Spider-Man's webbing.
"What did he do?" A SHIELD agent responds. "I'll tell you what he did..."
Spider-Man learns that Jack Hart (a.k.a. Jack of Hearts) placed himself into SHIELD custody when his energy powers began to increase uncontrollably. For some time now, he has been safely contained at The Hart Mansion near New Haven, Connecticut by Neutro-Mists, which cancel out his powers. However, Jack seems to have decided that tonight is the boy's night out. A decision made irregardless of the danger his powers pose to him or anyone else.
SHIELD is trying to save Jack--and everyone else--from his power. But instead of accepting their help--he's fighting them.

Well it's a sad story, but it looks like he'll have to go with the nice tin men for his own good thinks Peter to himself. "Well, I guess you guys can take it from here. I just remembered that I... uh forgot to pick up my dry cleaning!" Spider-man takes off into the skyline before the tin men can pose him any uncomfortable questions. Besides I've got to see how Felicia is doing. When the SHIELD men bring Jack into custody, Peter snaps some photos from his perch on a nearby building. I could always use more money. After he finished, he headed straight for the hospital.
