Nah, while that's a good idea.... Prescience was all about getting more defense once attacks were revealed...
BUT I like the beginning of this..
What about, like you said, making it an option for Reflexive Dodge. It would be a Modifier... (CL = RD + MN) This Modifier Number would be added to your Reflexive Dodge if you're ambushed, or can't see the danger coming....
Example: Spiderman, in the new system, if we go with the Defense Matrix, would have a 6 reflexive dodge. He purchases Prescience at +3 (12 stones). If the Green Goblin were about to attack him from Shadow, that round he'd get a +3 to his defense free....
Maybe just as half baked as Neros idea, but hell, it's an idea.

But what about the cases where you don't want to defend? Where you maybe want to web the opponent instead or maybe even punch him in the face? Lets say theres a bystander right next to Spiderman and the goblin throws a pumpkin bomb.. His Reflexive dodge would first off, be nulified due to the area effect, and the bystander would also be killed.. As far as i know (following his performance in the comics), Spidey is able to get out of the bombs danger zone and save the bystander at the same time.. Normal reflexive dodge work with this scenario.. He might even grab the bomb with a webline and swing it right back at the Green Goblin..

Only if he sees it coming, in which case Prescience is irrelevant.
The thing about Spider-Man's Prescience is that it doesn't tell him what kind of danger he'll be facing, it only tells him that he will in fact be in danger. The RAW for Prescience is totally misleading in that it implies Spider-Man is equipped to deal with anything thrown at him as long as he has enough stones for it... including attacking enemies who haven't properly defended themselves, and so on. Thats simply not the case.

Exactly, all his Spider Sense does is act as a proximity alarm... Granted it buzzes harder the more danger he's in, and gives him a general direction of the danger (which it does) But it doesn't tell him exactly what's coming, and it certainly doesn't do what the book had it doing.

Thats true, he wouldent know what kind of danger it is, just how dangerous it is.. But he would still know its coming and be able to grab the bystander and leap out of the way.. So there should be more to than just normal reflexive dodge

What about instead of "Free stones of Defense" it's "Free Stones to immediately place in your actions"
Like same example with Spiderman... Green Goblin's attacking from the shadow, but there's a kid... Spidey could take those 3 stones, put 1 in Strength and 2 in Acrobatics to get the kid the hell outta there.
