You walk into the New York city courtroom ready to deliever justice to another no good criminal scumbag.
"All rise for Judge Matthews." The Baliff says as a large elderly dark skinned man walks into court.
"We will now begin the trial of the State of New York versus Herman Schultz on the counts of armed robbery, and assault with a deadly weapon. Prosecutor, we will now hear your opening statement."
(OOC: This is basically the same ol story of Shocker tried to rob a bank, and Spider-Man stopped him... This will be more of a game with emphasis on story than stones, so just try to play along, and hopefully we'll manage to have some fun. ^_^)

(OOC: Got'cha. ^_^ By the way, do I have any witnesses I can call to the witness box? A passerby? A security guard at the bank? An employee? Spider-Man himself?! ) EdgeworthMiles Edgeworth nodded confidently, bowed respectfully at the judge, then stood up back straight. His impeccable clothes, his perfect hairstyle, his unfaltering demeanor... his entire appearance just confirmed what most knew already: that Miles Edgeworth, the "King of Prosecutors" was entirely in his element right now. A tribunal was to him what water was to fishes. -Thank you, your honor. (He turned to look at Schultz, then at the jury, taking his time to look in the eyes of everybody while he spoke.) I speak for the majority of the city of New York when I say, and that is an understatement, that Herman Schultz, more commonly known as "The Shocker", is more than familiar with the legal system of this great country... for being on its wrong side so many times already. He paused, allowing his words to sink in the minds of those present, then he folded his arms. -Like countless other customers, Herman Schultz went to the bank, the [insert date] of this year. However, while other customers go to the bank to deposit or withdraw money, or to check their bank balance...He then pointed his finger at Schultz just enough dramatically to not be too much: -... the man before you goes to the bank to perform gratuitous acts of violence and mindless vandalism, as well as rob the hard-won money of hard-working, honest americans... all the while caring not once about the threat to the aforementionned honest americans' lives, nor of the brave police officers that attempt to protect them at the risk of their own. Once again, Herman Schultz is guilty of those crimes... a fact that the prosecution will prove today, with no room for doubt! He bowed slightly at the jury, then stared at the defendant, awaiting for the defense's statement. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Start H: 2/2 E: 15/15 6 stones into Social Skills (Prosecutor, Persuade), plus 2 from Presence, to make a very convincing opening statement! End E: 9/15 Defense: 1 (Ref.Dodge) Mental Defense: 8 (6 Intelligence, 2 Unshakable)

(As a matter of fact for the purposes here... You have about 30 inocent bystanders, and half a dozen police officers you can take your pick from... I'll let you decide their names, and I'll come up with the rest.)
A well dressed intelectual looking female lawyer steps up.
"We the defense do not dispute the evidence presented in this case... However we plea not guilty by reason of temprary insanity... My client has lived a life full of rejection, setbacks and failiure... The world was hopelessly cruel to Mr. Schultz, constantly mocking, and pushing him around. As I'm sure all of you can testify for yourselves, we all only have so far we can be pushed before we lose all control and push back... Mr. Schultz was in the wrong place, at the wrong time, and he simply snapped under the presure of not being able to make enough money using legit work to even afford the rent in some of the worst apartments a New York slumlord can possibly create. In the end you will see that, my client is only guilty of pushing back against an unfair and unjust world that mistreated him at every turn!"
"Prosecution... You may present your first witness." The judge says.

Miles Edgeworth
Miles assessed his opponent with attention, noting her tone, her facial expressions, and her words. She seemed smart, and while not as fearsome in court as most of his usual adversaries, she was definitely more in control of herself and her case than an idiot such as prosecutor Payne would ever be. In other words, she was quite possibly good, though probably not one of the best. Edgeworth couldn't help but acquiesce that to plaid temporary insanity was one of the defense's best options... after all, evidence was rather unquestionable, and the defendant's well known history of repeat offender was too well established to plead not guilty.
-Very well. The prosecution calls Thomas Walter to the stand.
He waited for the man to get to the stand and take oath, then he began:
-Witness, please state your name and occupation for the court record.

A heavyset, balding white man gets on the stand.
"My name is Thomas Walter, and I'm an architect." He speaks with a thick New Jersey accent.... He seems decently educated... Not exactly Ivy League, but no mere High School Graduate either.

Edgeworth
-Mister Walter, I would like you to testify to this court about what you witnessed at that bank, with as much detail as you can remember.
Edgeworth folded his arms, listening to the man's testimony. This was all standard procedure, it was just getting started... but he had a good feeling about this trial.

"Well I was going in to make a deposit, when a guy in a yellow costume with those weird devices on it, blew down the doors and walked in, demanding all the money. He threatend us all to blow us through the walls if we didn't comply, after he got a large sackfull of cash, he ran out, and I just stayed huttled in a corner for about an hour until I knew the fighting was over, before I ran out.

Edgeworth
The King of Procurators searched his notes for a second, quickly picking up a few photographs. Holding them, he walked to the witness and presented them to him.
-Witness, please take a look at those pictures.
The first picture was the Shocker's padded costume, which made him highly resistant to vibrations and damage. The second one was of his trademark weapons, the Shocker gauntlets. The last was that of the blown up entrance and rubble at the entrance.
-Were those the "yellow costume" and "weird devices" worn by the defendant, and these the aforementionned destroyed doors, mister Walter?

Edgeworth
The procurator smirked.
-I would like the court to take note that this witness confirmed that the defendant wore a suit designed for combat and deadly weapons capable of destroying walls, not mentionning what they could do to a human body. By blowing down the entrance, which, since the crime happened during opening hours, was not even locked, the defendant frightened those present by a demonstration of what he could do, in addition to threatening them of killing them if they interefered. Additionally, the defendant didn't verify if anyone was standing behind the entrance doors prior destroying them, which alone would quite possibly have caused severe harm and even death considering the power of the Shocker Gauntlets.
Edgeworth then held the photographs high for all to see, before returning to his desk as he spoke.
-... but more importantly. The prosecution would like to remind the court that the defense said earlier that, "Mister Schultz was in the wrong place, at the wrong time", and that he simply "snapped under the pressure", the core of this plea of temporary insanity.
However, as it was stated by Mister Walter, the defendant went to the bank wearing this suit designed for combat, and wearing highly dangerous weapons, both an outfit and tools one isn't expected to be wearing in everyday life. Herman Shultz couldn't be wearing this costume and those weapons at the bank without attracting notice. In other words, he had to go put his suit on and arm himself with his Gauntlets, and then go to the bank to commit his crime. The defendant was exactly where he intended to be when he wanted to be. Therefore!...
He slammed his desk with his free hand, dropping the photographs on it with his other.
-...such a behavior and an arsenal meant for battle can only mean one thing: the crime was calculated in advance, and the defendant took the time to prepare for it, thus ruling out the possiblity of the crime being a simple loss of control resulting from snapping under pressure while being "in the wrong place, at the wrong time"! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Start H: 2/2 E: 15/15
4 stones into Investigation (Detect Contradictions/Discrepancies) to more accurately point out the contradiction between the defense's statements and the defendant's actions.
6 stones into Social Skills (Persuade, Procurator) plus 2 from Presence, into using the witness' testimony against the defense claims of its client's innocence due to temporal insanity.
End E: 5/15 Defense: 1 (Ref.Dodge) Mental Defense: 8 (6 Intelligence, 2 Unshakable)

Facing the judge, Miles shook his head and bowed down respectfully:
-The prosecution is done with this witness at the moment, your honor. Please proceed.

The defense steps up for cross examination.
"Mr. Walter... Do you drink?" She asked.
"Yes mamm." He said.
"Is it true you were at a party the night before, where Alcohol was served?" She asked.
"Yes mamm."
"And is it true that when you were examined by the doctors following the incident in question, you scored a .078 blood achohol rating?" She asked.
"Yes mamm."
"So you were for all intents and purposes just barely under the legal linit for drinking and driving... Smashed... as they say?

(ooc: By the way, the "Objection" is in caps locks not because Edgeworth is screaming it, but because it adds more impact. Additionally, I just wanted to mention that I'm doing my best so that the evidence I present are things I would have searched for and could reasonably have prior to this trial. Please correct me if I'm wrong.) EdgeworthPerhaps he had overestimated the defense after all... she had made a good opening statement, but if her only arguments were trying to make others doubt what could very easily be established as facts, she would hardly last 10 minutes in this trial. Edgeworth points out his finger at the defense attorney, stating firmly: -OBJECTION!! Your honor, this line of questioning is irrelevant to this case. The witness' blood alcohol rating, as stated by the defense, was indeed under the legal limit, therefore the witness' testimony cannot be denied on such fragile charges. Additionally, the facts as stated by this witness, for they are indeed facts, also figured on the bank's security system's tape recordings, and are clearly noted in the police record, which I have right here. With all due respect, and if necessary to prevent further... unsound lines of questioning, the prosecution would like to present them as proof.A copy of the police file of the incident was in the procurator's hands, given to him by detective Gumshoe, prior to the trial, as well as a copy of the security tapes he had requested at the bank which rested on his table. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Start H: 2/2 E: 15/15 3 stones (Efficient) into General Knowledge (The Law) to find the large gap in the defense's reasoning. 6 stones into Social Skills (Prosecutor, OBJECTION!!!) plus 2 from Presence to object at the defense's line of questioning and present some more proof to stop her attempts at twisting the facts due to insufficient "proofs". End E: 7/15 Defense: 1 (Ref.Dodge) Mental Defense: 8 (6 Intelligence, 2 Unshakable)

"Sustained." The Judge says. "The court will accept the tape into evidence. Bailif... Please get the tape, and a player so that we may see it."
Within minutes the tape begins to play... Everything is clearly going as Walter said it did, save for that Shocker looks clearly extreemely stressed out, shaking uncontrolably, and displaying clearly erratic behavior and mannerisms.
