Superman attempts to locate the origin of Jimmy's signal watch transmission.
Directional Hearing 8/8 vs. an OV/RV of 8/8. Superman needs an 11.
[dice=10][dice=10]The source of the sound is in Metropolis' local auto junkyard, located in the southeastern section of New Troy. As you near the northwest section of New Troy, you see several bright flashes of light and hear thunderous explosions rock the entire city area. Shards of metal, ripped free from the skeletons of discarded automobiles, fly through the air like shrapnel. As you approach the vast expanse which serves as the city's largest auto junkyard, you see four large, armored men alternately tearing into nearby automobiles, collecting what appear to be very specific portions of the cars, and beating quite mercilessly young Jimmy Olsen. With undaunted vigil, Jimmy regularly hoists his camera in the direction of his assailants and snaps several photos. Superman swoops down, angry but not allowing it to show. He interposes himself between Jimmy and the men attacking him and shouts "That's enough! Surrender immediately!" He flicks a glance over his shoulder "Jimmy! Get behind me! Stay down!" he orders.
ACTIONS
Auto: Fly (9aps speed) towards Jimmys location. Dice: BLOCK incoming attacks against Jimmy with his own body

Once Superman arrives, three of the villains turn on the Man of Steel and Team Attack, while the fourth attempts to escape. Note: Superman's Initiative is 50, so he wins Initiative and will continue to win Initiative every Combat Phase by default.

OOC This might work or be over-ambitious and fail miserably.
Superman didn't want to waste any time with these guys with Jimmy so near and possibly in danger! At superspeed he rushed them with the intent of tearing the mens suits clean off them!
ACTIONS
Auto: Superspeed (8aps speed) and Dice: MULTI ATTACK with a TRICK SHOT to target the groups (all four of them) suits using 13HP on acting (up to 28) and 21HP on effect (up to 46) to trash the groups suits (whilst leaving them unharmed)

These villains have a Dex of 20, so with a 28 Acting Value, Superman would need a 5 to hit one of them. As a multi-Attack against all 4 Superman needs 9. for the Trick Shot, Superman needs a 13. Alas, you rolled a 10. Team Attack With DEX: 20 they each would need a 7 to his Superman's 15 DEX, but as a team attack they only need 4. Villain #1 [dice=10][dice=10] = 4 + Roll Again Villain #2 [dice=10][dice=10] = 14 (Hit + 2CS) Villain #3 [dice=10][dice=10] = 7 (Hit) Villain #4 Uses Flight: 12 to escape. Doubles! Villain #1: Result 4 + [dice=10][dice=10] = 12 (Hit + 1CS) The Villains have STR: 24 and Superman has BODY: 18 Villain #1: 11 Villain #2: 13 Villain #3 9 Superman took 33 APs of damage, but he only has a BODY of 18. Superman had been surprised and pummelled by the armoured foes - they were faster and more agile than anything he'd ever faced before in his entire life, and as each blow spun him, he found it difficult to focus, barely seeing each blow before it clattered into him!
As he levered himself up slowly from the ground, he glanced across to where Jimmy was and made a quick decision.
"Jimmy! Grab on!" he shouts, then scoops Jimmy up (Auto action if Jimmy wants to get out of there) and flies him (8APs speed) to a nearby building to set him down (so he can duck out of sight), before swooping up and shouting "Hide! Run! I'll try my best to hold these guys off!" and flying back to the battle site (at Flight 8APs speed) where he'll land and face off against the armoured foes.
"Shall we try that again? You're faster and stronger than you look! I won't underestimate you again!" he offers, though even to his own ears he didn't sound very confident!
ACTIONS Dice action: None Allowed (Stunned) Auto Action: Grab Jimmy up Auto Action: Fly 8APs away, set Jimmy down (Free action?) Auto Action: Fly back to battle site (8Aps)
If attacked, Superman will add 7HP to acting, 7HP to resistance for each attack. I can see me burning through his HP supply in no time at all here. My immediate thought was Daxamites or robots, but I'll need a dice action to find that out. I suspect Superman won't get through the next round...

Before Superman can escape with Jimmy, three of the armored villains fire energy blasts at him!
With DEX: 20 they each would need a 13 to hit Superman's 15 DEX + 7 AP from Hero Points, but as a team attack they only need 9.
Villain #1 [dice=10][dice=10] = 6 (Miss) Villain #2 [dice=10][dice=10] = 12 (Hit + 1 CS) Villain #3 [dice=10][dice=10] = 17 (Hit + 3 CS)
The Armored suits have Energy Blast: 25 and Superman has BODY: 18 + 7 AP from Hero Points.
Villain #2: 8 Villain #3: 12

Almost out on his feet, Superman has no choice now but to run. It galls him, but these foes were the most powerful he'd ever faced in his life, save perhaps the Kryptonians in another dimension, whose powers dwarfed his own, and against whom he'd had to deliver the ultimate sentence - death by Kryptonite.
ACTIONS
Auto: Fly, up, up and away! Once more than a mile off the ground, speed up to hover 5 miles (13APs) up and look down at the enemy with telescopic vision.

A stunned Superman sets Jimmy down approximately 1/4 mile from the Auto Yard. This completes the previous combat phase.With Jimmy hopefully a safe distance, Superman flies up, up and away! Five miles up, the Man of Steel looks down at his enemies with telescopic vision. He discovers that three of the armored men have taken flight and are rocketing toward him from just a little over 1 mile from his current position! All villains are planning to use Flight to get within range for another Team Attack on Superman with their Energy Blasts!
Superman wins initiative.

OOC Forgot all about Desperation Recovery. End of the round, pay 15HP, make a roll to recover lost Body. Just need 3 or more to be back on full. Which is a bit rubbish and a rule I never encouraged, essentially giving regeneration to anyone with 15HP each time. Still, the fight will be over if I don't so... (pay 15HP then...)

Reeling from his ineptitude, the man of softened wrought iron can't believe he's faring so badly. Still, whilst they are going for him, they are leaving Jimmy alone. Floundering, battered, he tries once more to make a dent in these opponents.
ACTIONS
Dice: Attack - pointless adding Hero points, so it's all down to dice. Can't believe just how many I've burned through and not laid a hand on these guys. Other than that, he'll go down swinging, toe to toe. Dex 15 Str 25.

OOC Yeah, that makes sense - should have used last ditch defence but I don't think it'll make much difference. Have burnt far too many hero points and achieved precisely nothing, so we'll just have to see where the dice take us. I suspect it'll be la-la land for Superman. Still mind-boggled over these guys stats. Not exaggerating when I say they are quite comprehensively the most powerful non cosmic characters I've come across in an 'official' DC module. Be interesting to find out who they are and where they came from (have the module but not going to spoil it by reading it)
