Looks like fun. Agree with the Die Hard vibe, so strong! I don't really know who Kate Bishop is and suspect she's been around for decades in the comics. Shows how out of touch I am. Nah, you're good, it can't be that long when she was introduced... *checks it out* *Young Avengers 1 is a 2005 comic book* Whoa.

We got teasers! Moon Knight It's no secret that I love Oscar Isaac, this could be awesome. Ms. Marvel Maybe? I like the character in the books, but no idea how well they'll do it. She Hulk I love a few runs of the character, so... please, don't fuck this one up. They also fired up a million logos for a million series, most of them I don't care much about, maybe Ironheart depending on the approach. But they did also promise more of Which I'm sure will be well received around here.

We got the first two Hawkeye episodes and it's... what I expected almost exactly? I mean, it's not a bad thing, and the start got a couple of surprises in, but it's basically the MCU version of Kate's plots and origin smashed together with the Fraction+Aja+Hollingsworth run. Maybe the weakest part of these two episodes its Marvel playing it quite safe (no surprises there) but it's just the start, so we'll see.

I finally got a chance to watch Hawkeye. It's not perfect, but I really enjoyed it. It leans very heavily on the charisma and chemistry of its leads, but there is plenty of that to last just 6 episodes. The pacing and tone are pretty consistent considering how much it has to juggle (the usual amount of Marvel tie-ins, cameos, references, etc), though they brush a lot of wild coincidences under the rug to do so. A lot of the action was great, though by the finale it turned quite goofy and cartoonish. I loved the comic this was based on, I prefer my stories street-level and personal, and I really like Renner's Hawkeye, so I guess it's not a huge surprise that I liked this. A couple notes in spoiler tags: I have long worried about the future of the MCU after Endgame, what with Downey Jr. and Chris Evans retiring from their major roles, and especially after the unexpected loss of Chadwick Boseman whom I expected to fill a lot of the leading role vacancy, but I could definitely stand to see more of characters like Yelena and Kate. I thought they made a fantastic pair. And if they can keep finding gems like Hailee Steinfeld, a future Young Avengers project could really be something.

Also, here is the Ms. Marvel trailer:
Of all the genres to mix with the super hero genre, I did not anticipate "campy Disney Channel kids show". I think I would rather be stabbed than watch one of those, so I might just skip this one. It's interesting that they seem to have altered Kamala's powers, perhaps so as not to overlap too much with Reed Richards when he eventually makes his appearance?

Looks to me like they're going more family friendly with this one. I'll be skipping it too, but might glance here and there. For some reason I feel this is somewhat trying to be similar to the Shazam movie. And I liked that Shazam movie.

I was afraid the CGI hulk effects might be lacking considering it's a TV series, not a feature film, but that looks SO much worse than I feared. Yiiiiiikes.

The effects don't seem a far cry from other MCU projects, and I'd be willing to bet Disney is paying a pretty penny to get these projects produced. My guess is that it's not a budget issue: Probably the bigger production obstacle would be staffing/casting with COVID, but it looks like things are back to normal on that front too. So I'm not sure.

It absolutely seems like pandemic-related problems, I agree. CGI these days is mostly just a matter of time and budget; we know Marvel has the budget to make these shows look great, but the hours probably just weren't there.
I hope it won't be too much of a distraction, because the rest of the cast and show sounds like fun.

Sounds like Disney is greenlighting a Daredevil show with Charlie Cox reprising his role (and maybe Vincent D'Onoffrio too?). Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) also recently shared a photo of her hanging out with Michael Colter (Luke Cage); read into that what you like. Both have shown interest in bringing their characters back, though I believe Colter specifically wants to pick up where Luke Cage left off with that massive cliffhanger (and so do I). Personally I'm skeptical that Iron Fist can be salvaged, but I've seen crazier things happen.

Yawn. The MCU event I wanted to happen happened already, so unless they continue the arc they left off with at the end of MoM, I think I'm pretty much done with Marvel.
