I would love to get this book, but I rarely used any of the roleplaying books I already on. Yeah, its a bit tricky to justify buying a 40$ book when you already own a bunch of gaming materials you never get to use...

Yup, I bought the Buffy the Vampire slayer books years back, then the Modern d10, and even a couple of 4e D&D books. Since the comic book shop closed down I never really use them. In theory I would use this book no more than I would use the others. Especially when I'm taking five college classes, and reading constantly anyway

I have the core book. I am underwhelmed. Considering how often you and I disagree of things, I suppose that means I'll find it overwhelmingly awesome. Especially considering you're one of those people who seems to be continually disappointed or unimpressed. I hope to ask some friends about the system at gaming Wednesday night, and unless they tell me not to, I'll probably go ahead and order it when I get my next paycheck.

It's from the same people who do Mutants and Masterminds. I've only played around with the system a little bit, but it does have a huge fallowing on the internet. Most other Roleplay site's I've seen are Mutants and Masterminds. There's no telling how many differnt write ups I've found of pre existing heroes using the M&M set up.
With that in mind, I expect the DC book to be very similar by comparison to the M&M books. So, if you’re already know M&M and are expecting something new then the book could be already been there or done that. If you’re expecting a good M&M style book and they’ve changed the rules to something else or updated them for the book veteran players might be upset with that.
There’s really no possibly way to make everyone happy with these things.

It is suppose to be an awesome book and use the Mutants and Masterminds 3rd edition rule set.
I keep seeing it at my local shop and I want to pick it up so bad...

I've done some thinking on it, and if I can find a pretty good online site to where roleplay is active I may check it out.

Man I have this RPG WK...remember I brought up a Thread because I couldn't quite figure out how damage worked. I also mentioned possibly making a campaign using this system. I think the game's OK, though they could have explained the Utility Belt a little better, and could have put the damage chart in the section that discusses combat instead of in the powers section (Which caused a lot of my misunderstandings at first).
It was pretty exciting to make a Green Lantern. I'll admit he's not as powerful as Hal Jordan, but a decent stand in considering he's 12 points below Hal...He managed to defeat Sinestro on a playtest (But take that as you want, I was rolling low for both the entire play test). If you're planning to make an RP Campaign using this game WK, give me a PM I'll be happy to play. I'll probably have a campaign of my own set up as soon as I get a few things thought out.

I think what WK's saying is that he's married with children. We don't have $140... ;D Exactly. 140$ to spend on myself is something that comes along maybe every 2 or 3 years. I am way late on this post but . . . If you have more time than Money go to Mahalo.com answer questions to get Mahalos a psudo currency, when you have enough you can trade it for Amazon.com gift certificates. Mahalo saved my butt when I was dead broke.

Thanks for the link, Raynorn, but I tend to have much more money than time these days.
WK, DK, Was there anything specific that you found disappointing? Just "unimpressed" doesn't say very much. Were you hoping they'd include more powers? Certain characters? Were their write-ups disappointing? Is it just to much of a pain to learn the system? More details from you guys would be helpful.

I just don't think its a particularly good rules set on the whole. It's slower than I like for a super hero game, and I also think it lacks anything that really gives it the feel of the DC Universe as opposed to any other generic super powered game.

I think the lack of the DC feel is because they were working on the latest edition of Mutants and Masterminds when they were working on DC Adventures. I remember reading a review, and the guy went so far as to say he could see where the DC Universe references would be removed to fit the M&M setting.

Whatever the reason, I just don't feel like its DC when I've played it (which admittedly is only twice now). Even the powers seem more like generic stuff given DC names, not genuine reflections of how things usually work in the DC Universe.

I've noticed some people have this, and I've been reading up on it. Here are some printable character sheets. Also, for anyone who is wondering the stats on this game are wrong. It has superman's strength of 19, but by mass conversion that's abour 12 tons. Which is a strenght of 7 in the MURPG.
