Early on there was talk of introducing Thor in the Avengers movie, specifically by way of having him duke it out with Hulk. That could have been awesome.

Well looking at whos working on the movie Im gonna go out on a limb and say that it might be as good as spiderman 2 or 3 (leaning towards 3). The Trailer doesn't really hook me into wanting to see this movie what so ever and along with that theirs no real clear direction for a story (from the trailer) If Iron Man 2 was any indication of what these movies are going to be like then it's safe to say the plot will be simple and dumb; with plot holes the size of the grand Canyon. On a side note $5 says Thor falls in Love Natily portmans character and he stays with her along with an ending just as bad was Wolverine Orgins.

Maybe, but I was disappointed in previous Thor Vs. Hulk battles in animated features. In The Ultimate Avengers Thor gets knocked out at the beginning of the battle, and Captain America Keeps coming back for more while Thor lays there like a b*tch. In Thor Vs. Hulk, Hulk pretty much spanks beats Thor like a drum, and some how Wolverine keeps coming back for more. If the movie version of Thor is a bad ass then it will be an awesome battle, but if it's just more of the same bs we've been seeing then it's just going to be a sh*t movie. How many more ways are there to see a Thor get beat down while characters that are barely above human levels keep coming back. It's stupid. It's hard to look forward to something that is going to have the same outcome of Thor getting his *ss kicked, and then having the weaker characters save the day.

Sorry... I don't share your view that Thor is (or should be) some kind of ultimate engine of destruction. I like Superman, but I don't think Marvel needs one.

True, but it also doesn't make sense that Captain America, or Wolverine would be ultimate engines of destruction, and able to go toe to toe with The Hulk where Thor couldn't. Plus, I always thought Marvels Superman was the Sentry.

Sentry is Marvel's Superman... but if Thor is someone that can't be beaten by others, he becomes Superman-like himself.
Besides, Cap did not go toe-to-toe with The Hulk in that movie. You need to re-watch it. Cap fought dirty. And then there's the fact that it was based on The Ultimates. Ultimate Cap is considerably more powerful than the standard version, in terms of ability to absorb punishment and his raw strength. Conversely, both Thor and Hulk seem less powerful in the Ultimates universe.

You're mistaken, Cap goes toe to toe, and keeps coming back for more. I've seen the video several times. Thor gets knocked out early in the fight, but Cap keeps coming back after several beat downs. It's not so much dirty fighting as it is bad writing. Black Widow on the other hand does fight dirty, or smart.
Either way, the cartoon is based off the Ultimate Universe, and The movies are more or less Ultimate Universe. So, it's just going to be more of the same. It's going to be hard to get excited over seeing something we've already seen before. We actually need a bad ass Thor to make the movie watchable. Having normal people fight the Hulk, and survive longer than The God of Thunder has been done too many times before. It's past time marvel did something right for a change.
Maybe they'll just turn the whole thing into a Musical. After all, I your favorite Director Joss Whedon is directing it, and he's made a Superhero Musical before.

The movies are NOT the Ultimates universe! Where do people keep getting this bad information??? If the movies were set in the Ultimates-verse, Thor would be a hippy on Whale Wars.

Oh wow, you haven't read the script them. They are working that plot into the movie. Plus, Thor does look like a hippie in the movie.

If they are working the Thor tree-hugger angle into the movie... well, I wasn't planning on paying for this movie anyway.

I don't know if they are or not, but I wouldn't doubt it. As mentioned before Marvel does allot of stupid things. I was just yanking your chain.

There's a new trailer, by the way:
It both looks better, and worse at the same time. The acting looks.. a little better (I kinda like Portman's friend there), but the CG looks worse. Really not sure what to think here, but I'm still not wowed, and that isn't good.

I'm not crazy about comic book movies in general, and having said that I may watch this movie because Asgard looks pretty cool. I'll probably check out the green lantern movie because the off world locations look good too. I'm still waiting for a Kandor Appearance in a Superman movie, of to actually see Krypton before it was destroyed.
I'm not as big into movie storylines when it comes to comics because they will either tell me a story that I already know, or screw the story up completely. This is very disappointing considering how many writers and hard core fans there are. The writers in Hollywood would rather sh*t on something good rather than think something up. There wouldn't be anything wrong with just making an X-Man movie with a whole new plot, instead of re telling of re-inventing something.
However, it's interesting to see locations I've seen in comics, or read about since I was a kid.
