Captain Britain
Not wanting to fight Nick Fury, who he knows to be a good guy, CB sees no choice other than to make himself as wide as possible... and block the incoming shots against the Kree!
"Fury! You have to listen! The Kree aren't the enemy, the Skrulls arrrrrgh!" he cries.
ACTIONS
Try to block the shots of the SHIELD agents with his own body/forcefield! Heroic, stupid, bound to get him k'od maybe even killed, but he has to try and get these guys to see reason!

Captain Britain
The Captain turns to the Kree. "Hold your fire!" he calls out, and turns back to Fury. "Stop fighting and arrange for that..." he points to the receding capsule "to be stopped. THEN decide whether to fight. There's a Skrull on board. Those vile scumbags have a plan to set the humans against the Kree and you are helping him! How's that sit with you?"
Assuming Fury doesn't listen, CB adds "I've tried reasoning with you Nick. The Fury I know would have stopped to listen. Unless... you're not Fury?"
Captain Britain heads straight at Fury. He's not going to attack, but if he can get close enough the others might hold off on throwing those grenades!

Reason FEAT roll: xH8|CRxL1d100"Belay my last order!" Fury shouts, stopping the SHIELD agents just in the nick of time. "What's this you say about one ship, Captain? There was an armada of spacecraft here just a minute ago and they are all retreating. All the ships but yours, that is." The Kree say there will be no use in talking with the humans. The AugMENT is too powerful. One Kree suggests shooting them just to end their stupidity as a mercy killing, but he is quickly silenced. Captain Britain
"Thank goodness!" explains the Captain as he approaches Fury - carefully and hands up. He has no intention on starting something now that the battle has stopped!
"The Skrull have been using something called an AUGment device. It creates believable illusions - sight, sound, feelings like pain sensation, all of that, into its victims minds. The Skrull agent has been giving me the run around. I've come up against Hurricane, an old foe of mine I've not seen for years, and the Super droid thing that the Fantastic Four have come up against. Sorry I don't have names and details but my normal rogues gallery usually involves nut jobs with remote control eagles and gadgets coming out of their behinds. Real super powered types aren't that common in Britain. Usually." he said, cringing inwardly at thoughts of the Crazy Gang and others. He wondered how much of the disturbing events of the Jaspers Warp were remembered by the likes of Fury...
Best not to think of it.
"There was never an armada. We were meant to think that there was. Earth attacks, a Kree vessel is crippled or destroyed, tensions escalate, the Kree send more ships to investigate, the forces of Earth retaliate... The Avengers get involved... and the Skrull sift through the smoke and debris to claim the spoils of Earth and the Kree homeworld. At least that's as far as I know. There is a ship escaping right now..." he points to the escaping command console "With a Skrull agent on board who can prove all of what I'm saying, and probably more besides. We need to stop him. It. NOW!"

"I fear we are already too late," says the Kree who has been the most reasonable throughout Captain Britain's time on the ship. "The skrull used his power over invisibility to mask itself and is no longer visible." The Kree then places his weapons on the ground. "From what we learned of Earth, your government is slow as well as your penal system. I surrender in hopes that this will give us the time needed for the truth to be known. I beg of my fellow Kree to do the same."The rest of the Kree hesitate, and this is starting to make the armed SHIELD agents nervous. Captain Britain
"Isn't there some way of tracking his ... exhaust trail? How far can he have gone in what amounted to an escape shuttle? The ships you travel in have large engines to travel interstellar distances, yes? If that's the case there must be some other means of detecting the Skrull - radar or its equivalent." said Captain Britain. "Fury, the man... enemy you want is out here somewhere. If you can find him... it... we can clear all this up. If not, we have an unresolved tension between the Kree and the Human races. I for one don't want a situation that has this kind of thing ready to flare up as and when the Skrull see fit."
He sighs. He's just one man, and he's seemingly alone, trying to avert a war.
ACTIONS
Finding the Skrull is key. Try to convince those that finding the Skrull is key to solving this mess.

"There had to be at least fifty ships out there Captain! How can we follow just one?" Fury argues. The Kree say that their sensors may be able to do what Captain Britain is asking, but the AugMENT device is so powerful, that it could trick the agents' minds into seeing multiple contrails. But as a Kree steps toward the sensor terminal. CHA-CHINK"Stop right there!" Fury orders the Kree. "I still don't trust you enough to let you push any buttons!"OOC: Merry Christmas. Captain BritainOOC Apologies for any typos or delays. I'm posting on a machine that was barely usable when it was new. With a heady 1gb ram (shared with video), a mighty hard drive capable of 2 or thousand rpm, and a processor slower than my android tablet, it's a painful experience. Slow doesn't quite describe the thing. Painful does.CB called out "FURY! Calm down. The fight is OVER!" he moved to stand in between the Colonel and the Kree. "No one shoot anyone. The enemy are the Skrulls. I trust the Kree enough to use their machines to get the job done, for our mutual benefit. If anything goes wrong, blame me. Chances are that's what would happen anyway." He turned to the Kree. "It's vital we track down and stop that Skrull. If you... if we fail... there may be little I can do to stop Fury taking you into custody. I don't want that, but your people would do the same to us. We NEED that Skrull captive to get it to talk and explain all this. In the meantime if there is some way to counteract the AUGment that would help massively. I realize I'm asking a lot, but the fate of relations between our two peoples is at stake, and if we fail, the Skrulls win. You want that? Here, let me help in any way I can..." he offers. He turns to Fury "You have any tech types with you? Brains are what's needed here, not brawn!" ACTIONSUse REASON to help the Kree track that fleeing Skrull ship. OOC: I admire you getting every last bit of use out of your old computer. Thank you for putting up with the pain to continue the game. As they say "No pain, no game", or something like that.REASON FEAT roll: |FUh6uPB1d100Maybe it's the missing prayer beads, lack of rabbits' feet or distance from the nearest four leaf clover, but Captain Britain, the Kree and SHIELD are unable to trace the Command Centre. The super-Skrull has escaped. (-30 Karma) But all is not lost. Captain Britain has convinced Nick Fury to halt the Superheroes' attack on the Kree homeworld. None of Brian's Kree allies were killed by the Super-Skrull or SHIELD and the Kree mothership is brought to Earth. (+20 Karma) Congratulations! The good Captain saved the World -- and the Kree world too! Captain Britain will start his next adventure with 20 Karma, but I think we should take a break from Brian Braddock for now, so we can concentrate on the Human Torch's adventures in the Secret Wars. However, I'm flexible and would like to know if you'd like to start a new Captain Britain adventure...perhaps with a different game system? OOC First of all sorry for delays. Got my old computer up and running until it heated up like an oven on my knee. So, I guess that way is out then :S As for continuing, It'd be nice sometime (and I enjoy playing CB, despite his one dimensional hit things till they fall down approach) but yeah, will concentrate on remaining stories before starting something new. Thanks again for running it. Can't help but feel the good Captain was outmatched at every turn, unless it's just the dice and my sucky decisions. Off the top of my head the Super Adaptoid and the Super Skrull can properly paste CB of this era.
Perhaps something along the lines of karma being allowed to roll extra dice (rather than a D100, roll a bunch of D10s then pick the best two), exploding dice etc. Agility should also make an impression on whether you get whacked. These are age old problems we had with MSH back hen it first came out though, and questions that still get asked on the internet today
Thanks again for the adventure
CHeers, Paul

Body armor was the biggest problem in this adventure. I don't know what the writer was thinking.
While Captain Britain was really fighting a Kree, while he thought he was fighting the Super Adaptoid with a Thing Template, he needed to overcome Incredible (40) Body Armor. The stats provided in the magazine only give CB a Remarkable (30) strength! The Super Skrull, that was a super skrull has Remarkable (30) Body Armor. So per the adventure as written, Captain Britain can;t hurt either of these guys with a punch!
The DC Adventures system based on Mutants and Masterminds is growing on me. so I may not start any more games with the old MSHRPG system. It's just too bad I have so much MSHRPG material.
Sorry about the laptop woes you are experiencing. Maybe once you get a shiny new computer we can try another Brian Braddock story. I enjoy the character and your portrayal of him.
Cheers,
Andrew
