No, that's true, it definitely doesn't play like a superhero show. It's a good crime drama, but the superheroics are pretty minimal. The fight choreography is great and the acting rests in the upper half of the bell curve, but none of the characters are portrayed as superheroic nor does the show really act like the characters are super (or particularly heroic, for that matter). I think what sets this aside from the Nolan Batman films is that, as far as I've seen (still five episodes in), the show point-blank recognizes that moral greys are integral to the plot and seems to be going in the direction of punishing the characters that ascribe to "grey" heroics. Kingpin, for example, has stated now that he's doing what he's doing to save the city. Ostensibly, he's what Daredevil can become if Daredevil doesn't get his stuff together. I see Daredevil's character arc taking him into a less morally wishy-washy after he starts seeing the results of his crusade. I do worry that they're going to just stuff Claire into a fridge, but we'll see if that's what actually happens.

So I watched the 2nd episode. I liked it well enough. Sadly the highlight for me was a fight scene, which is not a good sign.

That fight scene was really good, though.

That fight scene was really good, though. Given, it was fantastic. I used to think Rosario Dawson was really hot. Time has been kind to her, it appears.

I should also say; I actually ended up really liking his "proto costume" once I got a good look at it, and I thought Foggy was a fun character in the second episode, although he seems somewhat directionless as a character. His motivations are, if you'll pardon the pun, a bit foggy.

He gets to be a tough lawyer-man in episode five, which was nice to see, since he's mostly been the neutered manchild, otherwise. And, yeah, the second episode was where I changed my mind. He has really great on-screen chemistry with Karen, too.

As of episode 4, I'd agree with you. But it is a good show, and worth sticking with. Your loss if you don't, but that's just my humble opinion..

I described the show to some of my other friends as "Arrow had a baby with The Wire". I've lost interest in Arrow, but man do I ever love The Wire, so it works out. ^__^

Episode 3. Really dig the... exchange between Matt and Foggy about their new client, and in particular Foggy's line "That is not a client, that is a shark in a skin suit." Foggy sees that they're being tested for worse things to come. Really cool.

Yeah, Foggy does a good job of being the lovable goof, but also being the summa cum laude graduate from Columbia-freakin'-Law in more than just a passing reference. He's just as smart as Matt and, presumably, as just as much lawyering skills (or as much as a recent graduate can have), he just doesn't have superhuman senses to help him out. He has a great scene in episode five (I think) that really shows him being the smart, cunning guy that he is.

Full disclosure, I think one of the reasons I'm enjoying this show so much is that it's about recent law school graduates.

None, yet. I still need to pass the bar.

Fisk on this show is very much like my preferred version of Lex Luthor. He doesn't see himself as a bad person, he sees himself as a person who has to do bad things.

I'm really, really happy with how they've treated him so far (8 episodes deep, now). I'm also a huge fan of D'Onofrio's portrayal; the guy seems absolutely exhausted all the time and it's really perfect. I got a bigtime Luthor vibe at the end of this last episode I watched and I'm really eager to see where the show goes from here.
