D'Onofrio has, IMO, a pretty solid history, so I'm not surprised that I like what he's doing.

He gained weight and put on some muscle at the gym for the role, which is some pretty big commitment for just 13-episodes. I think he's pretty talented and nails the part. Once he's properly introduced, he steals the show IMO.

Stick is a serious dickhead.
... which is kind of a good thing because I was losing interest in the show entirely until he showed up.

Stick made me so angry. > I finished the series last night, and am pleased with it! I'll write a bit more later, but I think it was very good.

This show is really ticking me off. Just when I'm thinking "you know what, screw this show" the show is like "Oh, you're leaving? That's too bad, I was just about to show you A NINJA!"
... and then I'm all "You sonofabitch! I love ninjas"
$#@!ing show

Ooooooh, the episode after the ninja episode is good. I don't think there are any actual fights, but it's really good.

I'm surprised as to how far they went even going so far as to *spoilerspoilerspoiler* Ok, I shut up. But I was quite impressed all in all. Only thing I could complain, if I realy realy needed a reason to, you know .. just for complaining's sake is dress for the last episode. A bit to glittery for my taste. But that's realy only if you put a loaded gun at my head and make me pick something. I like my life, so that'd be my choice.

Yeah, I'm just not as enamored with this show as all of you guys are. If I want a grim crime drama show, I'll watch... you know, a crime drama. Frankly, there are plenty of them out there that do it better than Daredevil. Conversely, Daredevil also sucks as an action show, because the action is too rare and a lot of it really isn't all that entertaining as violence for its own sake. There have been a couple of really neat action sequences, but those seem to be a minority, more of the sequences tend to be super generic, and at times Cox is not at all convincing in his physicality. There is at least one point at which he makes a movement which is laughably bad... and its the only thing on screen, so I couldn't not notice it. The long exposition scenes could be great, except that the dialogue usually doesn't actually go anywhere or tell us anything. My overall impression is that they somehow took four to six hours of story and turned it into thirteen hours of TV.
There also seems to be a repeated pattern with characters on the show. A character will show up and start getting a little bit of screen time and seem really cool... then they star getting a lot of screen time and it all breaks down. Kingpin is a great example of this. I was fascinated with D'onofrio's performance initially, but after a while I got really tired of him doing Batman voice and constantly being shot with his face taking up most of the frame because I guess I was going to forget that he's got a massive head/face otherwise(?)
There are some positive things. The parallels between Matt and Wilson's backstory are really interesting, and they do a good job of drawing the lines without hammering you over the head with it. Ben Urich is utilized exactly enough so that he doesn't seem a random guest appearance (I'm looking at you, Stick), but also doesn't suffer burnout. When the action sequences are on, they are amazing, and they've done a fantastic job of laying the groundwork for the full setting so that when we're focused on other characters in future seasons, it won't seem like they were suddenly tacked on.
At the end of the day, the show just lacks the fun factor that I want from the MCU.

Yeah, it's not a fun factor show, it's more about character study and intrigue. If you removed the whole supernatural senses thing and replaced him with a regular, albeit very talented vigilante, the show would still work just fine, so in a way it actually fails as a super hero show. It really is a crime drama with some powdered superhero flavouring sprinkled on top.
I dig, that, though. I'm not really watching any crime dramas right now (well, Scott & Bailey, but it's a very different show), but if I was neck deep in them I'm not sure I'd have the patience for Daredevil, either. In my case, it's actually shows like Arrow, Flash, and Agents of SHIELD that I'm getting tired of, so Daredevil is scratching me right where I itch.

I'm just going to leave this here (even though half of the people here are too young to know this reference, I'm sure): For some reason it doesn't want to embed, so try this instead. ~TWF
