John & Mildred
"Thank you sergeant." Says Captain Dyre disentangling herself from your grip. "Follow me."
With that she turns and heads for the door at pace, heading down the stairs and into the main hall. Once there she starts barking orders in a manor of someone who has no doubt they are going to be obeyed.
Mildred will notice she is dressed very differently than before. Skin tight jeans, a crop top, and a light leather jacket, she looks like she is dressed for a night on the town.
"Mr Harraldsen, his is Sergeant Hawkin, I need his badge and side arm in my office, please."
The blonde man with a bushy moustache she had been speaking to nods and heads off.
"Buckley, my office, Mr Hawkin, join us please."
With that she turns and heads into her office.
When both of you are in her office she drops herself into her chair behind her desk with a sigh and gestures for you both to take a seat.
"Ok, John Hawkin, Mildred Buckley. Introduce yourselves later. Mr Hawkin will be joining us in our Special Crimes Taskforce. I'm sorry to drop you in at the deep end Mr Hawkin, but we have an officer in trouble at the moment so explanations will have to wait."
"So Detective Buckley, you wanted to talk."
Christopher
"John." Says the man picking himself up off the floor and swinging himself into the passenger seat of your car.
"John Constantine, and from the luck spell I'm guessing you are Detective Bradley, or is it Buckley? I always get those two names mixed up."
The car starts up perfectly and before you know it you are heading toward Arkham Asylum again. This time your luck spell seems to be working perfectly, clear roads, lights on green, nothing to stop you reaching your destination.
"Either way, you can probably think of me as a paranormal consultant. Your Captain Dyre was just on the phone asking me to help our with one of her detectives who'd gotten themselves into a fix over at Arkham, cue you with the luck spell."
Cerberus
"Um, uh, yes, certainly."
Dr Montoya seems caught between fascination and concern, but she hurries off, leaving you alone with Jade and Mr Hernandez.
Time ticks on as you focus your energies on protecting Jades mind and in the silence that this leaves you become aware of something else. Not quite a sound, not quite a feeling, it is like something in between, like a mixture of whale song and hunger.
Of course there is no sound and maybe you're just in need of a snack, but for a second there it felt like something other than you was feeling it.

A pleasure Mr.Constantine yes I am Detective Bradley. If you do not mind my asking, exactly what is your particular area of expertise? Currently, we have a situation in which one of our detectives is being attacked by a Fae creature of some sort. How do you plan on fixing that?
Christopher is neither being friendly nor hostile he is more curious about other practitioners and disciplines of magic.
He does not bother finding a parking space but pulls up right in front mentally justifying this is an emergency and he is an emergency vehicle now. He pulls his badge and goes to the front desk.
Detective Bradley and a civilian consultant where are they?

Looking at the creature the young woman could sense what this creature felt for a brief moment as she tried initiate contact with it.. She was taken a back slightly as it felt as though what she was doing was trying to heal Philipe's mind from the damage he hand sustained from the encounter from this beast, it was being threatened by her trying to fix the damage.. Whatever this thing was it had made its home within this poor man's mind and had no intention of giving it up, not even to the likes of Jade. Trying to figure out a next course of action was going to be difficult as she did not know what to do though her attention was taken as around her, manifestations of energy warped around and mirror images of herself graced the mental battlefield. Her red eyes looked around in confusion as to what had occurred as she had felt something strange happen just a few seconds ago. A strange pulse of energy or something had coursed through her like a conduit and created these doppelgangers. Perhaps someone from the outside was helping her out? [/i]Cerberus? [/i] she thought to herself as she looked around but to her gratitude for whatever force was at work, she felt the tendrils beginning to loosen their hold upon her as the creature had become distracted by the other versions of her. She had an idea... Putting her force into slipping out of the tendril, Jade tried to maneuver away from the creature's reach and give herself some distance in order to safely get out. --------- WS: 4/4 RS: 1/15 ---------

"Welcome to the freakshow" Mildred greeted Hawkins with a wide smile. She eyed him as if a mere glance could gauge out what kind of weirdo he was, to no avail. He was quite a looker though, but Mildred was smart enough to not make moves on a work partner. Well, not in front of the boss, at least. "I did want to talk, but part of it felt of a personal nature..." she answered, peeking at Hawkins' reaction. "It's just our first day on the job, and I may not have police academy training, but when someone appears several times over the course of an investigation, they tend to become a person of interest" she explained, leaning on the desk in front of her. "I may as well be paranoid, something to be discussed over a drink has been bothering me all day, but beyond that and taking into account that the Arkham issue should be sorted out as we speak..." Mildred leaned back into her seat, comfortable.
"What haven't you told us?" Mildred outright asked. "I didn't know you before today, not really, unless I have forgotten more of the century that I'm aware of" she said, as memories were an odd thing, that sometimes didn't came alive until poked. "And all of a sudden, you seem to be connected to people and places I know, including some that meddled with this case" she said, not specifying, although she was sure that Dyre was aware that she was talking about Grandfather's and the people there. "I could see that you didn't start working this case today, and yet this department if sort of new... so either you are involved on a personal level or at least you know more than you let on, probably both" she sunk a bit more on her seat, starting to look like a lazy cat more and more.
"So, do you care enough to share?" Mildred asked. "Or am I really just paranoid and seeing shadows? Growing mad with my age?" she wondered.

Cerberus
The young fae was keeping his focus on Jade, but something else came around, a feeling? Something undefined, something he couldn't quite put his finger on. Was there yet another task at force around? What else was watching in this place? He was certain that if anyone had some kind of magical scanner around, he could probably see just how much alien this place was filled with. At any rate, this wasn't his priority, but he took a note of it in case it would come back. Tough reflexively, he took a look around.
-Anyone here?-
He let out, not to anyone in particular, but if anyone could hear him and was willing to show itself, perhaps that would be a beginning.
----------------------------------------------- Repeating action to help Jade keep the fae entity at bay. 4 in Int to try and understand what that feeling truly was.

Jade
The energy does seem to have a feeling of Cerberus about it though you aren’t sure why. As you try to struggle though you come to realise that nothing physical will work here. Your mind tries to compensate, telepathy taught you that much at least but whatever this is is too strong for just your willpower alone to overcome.
What is happening is clearly magical, your telepathy would help you otherwise, and what you are guessing Cerberus is doing is using his magic to protect you. Only things aren't going quite right. It's like his magic is keeping things from getting worse, and it should be strong enough to make things better, but it isn't. There is clearly enough magic to launch a counter attack, but somehow the creature is able to ignore it when it does anything more than try to distract it.
Maybe over time if Cerberus is able to keep this up the creature will just get bored and let you go.
Mildred & John
“No, you’re not getting paranoid.” Says Captain Dyre with a shadow of a smile on her face. “However you are also not thinking.”
“When I gave you this case I used the words ‘competency test’. When I set a test, it means I have looked into the case already. In this instance it means I looked into it with a view to making sure no one would die if I gave it to you to deal with. I also wanted to make sure that you could resolve it after I found initially that I couldn’t. So, do I have the answers? Yes, I do. It’s the reason I arranged for Mr Constantine to be available should anything go wrong. The test is, can you get the answers? If you can I’ll know you are ready for live cases.”
“As for the age of this department.” She chuckles a little before continuing. “Well, I’ve not exactly been waiting around for this team to turn up before tackling difficult cases. I’ve just been doing it on a much smaller scale than I hope we can operate on in the future. This entire precinct is staffed with people I have been working with for years. We are a team and you are now part of that. Being part of a team means you can turn to your colleagues for help which is why I consider this conversation to be a positive sign.”
“It doesn’t mean I’m going to give you the answers of course, unless you are saying you can’t solve it by yourself, but if you need to discuss what you’ve found I’ll be happy to hear you out.”
Cerberus
Cerberus looks around and for half of a fraction of a second there is something more there. Nothing physical more like the after image of a light bulb on your retina that was there and a moment later gone. You saw something but what it was you can't quite catch hold of with your mind, then the others burst in and everything returns to normal.
Christopher
“Me? Oh I just dabble in everything.” Says John casually. “As to what I’m going to do, well I suppose I’m going to figure out what I’m dealing with, then make it go away. Probably just ask it nicely, tends to work most of the time. If it’s Fey as you say then it might get a bit tricky, but the nice thing about Fey is they always leave a loop hole. Can’t help themselves.”
He follows you out of the car and into the Lobby of the Asylum were a doctor appears to be waiting for you.
“Ah, Detective Bradley, yes we’ve been expecting you. Please come this way. My name is Doctor Montoya, your colleagues Detective Raven and Detective Rodriguez are in our secure wing with a patient, Mr Hernandez.”
She starts moving even before she finishes speaking leading you through doors and into the heart of the Asylum. John is following along behind hands in pockets apparently with the air of a teenager who doesn’t want to be there. It’s an act of course, you have a different way of avoiding notice but you recognise the signs. He’s watching, listening, and putting things together maybe.
Dr Montoya continues to talk as you move.
“It’s been about an hour since, well I don’t know, whatever happened, happened. Here, they are through this door.”
She leads you into a hallway where Jade and Cerberus are standing, Jade is as still as a statue, whereas Cerberus is standing beside her concentrating, fidgeting a little as he casts a spell. It’s a simple magical defence incantation.
John lets you lead moving quietly over to the window through which Mr Hernandez can be seen, he then sighs, pulls out a piece of paper and starts writing something.

Cerberus I am going to aid you while we try and figure out our next move don't fight me rather work with me. Mental magic is not my main field of study at best I am a hedge witch and have a lot to learn; however, this entity seems to be acting as a sort of possession and I should be able to work an exorcism. If what I have heard about Fae is at all accurate they hate the unnatural and Jade here is more machine than biology as it is, calling forth the essence of what she is and attacking the beastie. Of course, that is only at a normal inspection I could also open myself up a tad more and literally see what we are dealing with if that would be of any help. Mr.Constantine what do you think?
Not wanting to wear himself out Bradley fortifies Jade's mind against intrusion using her own natural resistances as well as Cerberuse's efforts and builds upon them strengthening any weaknesses he believes he can.

The captain seemed unphased from the mode of travel they took which was to be expected after all whatever she was she was tough. Jonathan followed the attractive captain through the station and smiled when she asked some blond guy for his badge. He wasn’t going to lie the fact she was his boss made him want her more. He was introduced to another detective he was going to be working with. She didn’t tickle his fancy like the captain but she had a look in her eye that said she had something dark and scary beneath her, he liked it ofcourse. He realized that he was just substituting. The release he wanted the relationship he wanted from Dyre was just to fill that empty void that only one woman was ever able to fill. He just needed a fix.
He snapped back to what Buckley was saying he just nodded at her welcome, he wondered if all the detectives were like him and Dyre. Buckley started accusing sure of hiding shit. Interesting. Ofcourse Dyre repelled the attack. If Dyre was hiding some shit he’d find out hopefully tonight at her place. But we’ll see. He decided to stay out of the conversation till needed.
Wait what is the captain talking about? He was expecting to fight against Batman’s super baddies but this didn’t sound like a murder.
OOC: sorry guys was in the hospital no problems now lol

(hi ninja, I'm glad you are fine)
So the new guy wanted to play it tough and silent? Fine, Mildred's curiosity with Dyre was more than enough to keep her interested if Hawkins didn't play ball. Dyre saying that she wasn't thinking put a frown in her usually amicable face for a moment, but it soon faded off, as she was probably right. After all, Mildred never considered herself specially smart, but being cautious, wily, friendly and underestimated were often more useful than being smart, at least in her experience. "Then leaving the talk about that night of the forty five for later..." Mildred commented, not wanting to tackle what could be personal and weird with Hawkins in front of them, but as she felt her memory tug back at the date, she couldn't help but feel that something was wrong there.
"Wait-" Mildred sighed. "You say you can't solve it, but that you looked into it..." she mumbled. "Memories are blurry in my mind, but certain things have been haunting me tonight. Did you cause it? I want to chalk it to coincidence, but the nurse uniform that night comes back to me over and over and over again. Or if you didn't, perhaps you tried to contain it with fire?" Mildred was tired of coincidences, and couldn't separate the hospital fire from Dyre's presence in a nurse uniform at that bar in the same time the hospital burned down. "Was it just a disguise, or are you connected to it since even longer that you admitted?" her lazy cat posture in the chair shuffled, restless.
"The Indians seem to have a colored view of the problem, an Old One resting there" Mildred said. "Their perspective limited, knowledge and superstition woven together. They are unable to see what they know, obscured by what they think they know" she continued. "And perhaps so are we. The plans of the station showed the reinforced structure, the closed off area. The morgue" she kept muttering, trying to order her thoughts out loud. "An Old One of the Indians. A hospital mysteriously burned. A police station deliberately constructed. And a vampire that thought of perhaps a wylde fae" she shook her head. "But I'm wrong, my memories deceiving me. It was also a church, and we never looked into it, my own condition pushing me away from the idea..." Mildred looked at Dyre in the eyes, those eyes that chased her since 1945. "And if you had Constantine at the ready, knowing his reputation..." she sighed.
"Do we have a demon in the basement?" Mildred outright asked.

Cerberus
Cerberus was still concentrating his magic to help out Jade at least until help came along. There was something else in this place and he could briefly catch a glimpse of it, but barely and like an after image, it was fuzzy and couldn't make much of it. When the cavalry arrived, he nodded to them.
-Sure...I'm barely keeping it's attention away at the moment so any help will be welcome...-
The young fae said, turning his lavender eyes toward Christopher and the newcomer.
-Who...is he?-
Cerberus, tilting his head toward the other man. Not that he minded more help, but he would love to know who that man was and if he was part of the investigation as well.

Jade tried to struggle free from the tendril which had captured her but sadly she found that her physical force was not working in this situation. It was not surprising as it was the mindscape of a man who had been fractured by this creature but she had to try something to get out of her predicament. She had help from the outside for which she was grateful for but without it she was sure to be in a worse situation... Perhaps if she tried to connect to Cerberus's mind she could possibly aid him in his magical defenses for her.. She did not know much about magic except what she learned from watching shows during her childhood but it was worth a shot? If anything she could rely what was going on between the mindscape and the outside world.. Cerberus.. It's Jade, I'm going to try and connect to you.. I can see that you're helping but whatever you're doing is not enough. Whatever has me isn't getting fazed by much.. From what I can sense from it, Its scared and running off of instinct. It's hungry. she tried to rely to her allies on the outside. Jade tried to make this message subtle as she could to avoid detection from the monster as she was not quite sure of its psionic abilities. -------------- WS: 4/4 RS: 0/15 --------------

Christopher & Cerberus
"Yea, I'd put that exorcism on hold if I were you mate. Looking at their auras is pretty instructive though." Says John, before turning to doctor and pulling something out of his pocket.
"Say, doc, have you ever seen one of these before."
A pocket watch is dropped on a chain from his hand which twists and sparkles. It catches Dr Montoya's attention immediately.
"Yes, of course I... Wait... Are...... You........ Try...."
She trails off gazing blankly at the watch as it gently sways in front of her.
Neither of you saw the spell, but you felt it just as it took hold of Dr Montoya. Mentalism, probably a simple hypnotism spell.
"Say doc, would you mind going and getting some transfer papers for me please?"
"Yea, sure." She says and starts to wander off still looking vacant.
He then turns to you with a slight grimace on his face, tucking the watch back in his coat.
"Ok, so this is one of those good news, bad news, worst news situations. Bad news, this this is exactly what I was afraid it would be, meaning it's more of less immune to magic. Good news, I'm still pretty sure I can fix this. Worst news is that no doctor in their right mind would ever let me try. So if either of you would like plausible deniability now would be the time to leave and let me get on with it."
At this point Cerberus hears Jades voice in his head.
(Feel free to talk)
Jade
You manage to connect to Cerberus' mind without the creature noticing, and you get the impression that it probably wouldn't have noticed even if it hadn't been being distracted. For all its obvious power, it doesn't appear to be thinking.
Then you notice another type of energy start up, one intent on wrapping you in some kind of shield. It cannot seem to separate you from the creature but it is trying.
Mildred & John
The Captain sits back and listens, a look of approval slowly growing on her face.
"Ah, much better, I was wondering if you would put that together. Yes, I thought it was a demon back in forty five, it was driving the patients at the hospital mad. Most people just took it for the after effects of the war. So many of the boys who came back came back damaged that no one really noticed it much." A look of anger flashes across her face for a moment.
"Unfortunately I'd angered the Miagani just a few months before and had, well let's call them other pressing concerns at the time so I burned the place down, bought the property and salted the hell out of the earth. After that I had to leave so the first time I knew there was a problem was when I came back to find exactly the same problem I had left."

Mr. Constantine while I thank you for your concern it really is not necessary, should anyone try to charge us I will bring in enough lawyers to make the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade look like the line at the DMV. Frankly I am more afraid of what my partner is going to do to me when she gets my gift... I will get the door seems like the lock-down protocols for it are malfunctioning may take them quite a while to fix that, and if any of us really need to leave... "You thought it in the forty five..." Mildred said with a smile, perhaps not closer to uncover the mystery of the basement, but taking steps when it came to Dyre's nature. "Does that mean you no longer think it's a demon?" she frowned. "There must be something that makes you think it's a demon, or you wouldn't have Constantine around" she reasoned. "I'm glad that this is no church anymore though, or I wouldn't be able to step in" she shrugged, aware of her limitations. "I hope that they bring Rodríguez back and they manage to find something" Mildred sighed. Losing a team member on the first night would suck, but she also wanted to know more about the thing sealed in the basement.
"Look at us, reminiscing like we were friends of old, a couple of ancient ladies that had the best of their lives behind them" Mildred joked, when it was precisely knowing who Dyre was the thing she wanted. Relaxing on her chair, she stared at Hawkins more than it was polite, seeing if he had anything to add to this convoluted mess that had been dragged from the past.
