THE FANTASTIC FOUR: VON DOOM'S EXPRESS! After many months of emptiness, the Baxter Building is again humming with life. Sue and brother Johnny are being interviewed on the residential level. Reed is conducting a maintenance program on the Negative Zone portal monitors. The Thing is lifting weights on the gymnasium level. The Richards' son Franklin also is on that level, playing games with HUBERT, his robotic companion. Human Torch & Invisible Girl: The request came in the mail about a week ago. A fellow student from Johnny's Metro College days is working toward her doctorate in sociology. Her thesis is about children who remain together in adult life. This obviously includes such famous siblings as the Invisible Girl and Human Torch. The student's name is Sally Flack, and she looks like a typical student on an interview, wearing a sensible suit and skirt and a pair of oversized amber bracelets that rattle annoyingly as she writes. She is taking notes on a yellow legal pad in her lap, and recording the conversation for further reference. She seems genuinely interested in the FF's past, and the two heroes' part in it. The Thing: Pumping iron is the wrong phrase. Supporting a hydraulic press over your head is just plain foolish. Especially if the press is set up to tax The Hulk to his limits. Now, as your arms get more and more tired, you wonder if setting the press to maximum was such a good idea.

"Ugh... Dang it. This thing is a bit too much for now." Ben huffed to himself trying to gently lower the weights back down.

"Ugh... Dang it. This thing is a bit too much for now." Ben huffed to himself trying to gently lower the weights back down. Attempting to gently lower the weights so that I can leave the machine for now. This will require a yellow Strength FEAT roll (51), followed by a green Agility FEAT roll (46). Please decide if you wish to spend karma before making each roll of 1-100 using the "Insert Die" feature. You may post the first roll before deciding if you want to spend karma on the second roll.

The Human Torch
"So I guess you're wondering how the heck I ended up here with my sister in adult life? To cut a long story short the accident that gave us our powers is only part of it. Sis, Ben, Reed, they're all my family and we work together, play together, adventure together... Don't get me wrong - sometimes we've had enough and need a break! I've worked with plenty of other heroes away from the FF. It's great, a challenge, change of scenery... The only annoying one is Spiderman. That dimwit is such a clutz I'm forever having to clean up his mess. Those webs take some burning off I can tell you."
OOC So we're using Marvel Superheroes yeah? Probably the most powerful of the Human Torch writeups (Class 1000 nova blast yeah?) woot!

The Thing:
The Thing gently climbs out of the ram without the sudden release causing the press to smash through the floor. But then the building is rattled by an explosion that makes the ram seem minor. The alarm klaxons scream; something has broken into the Baxter Building through the roof!
Human Torch & Invisible Girl:
Sally's questions are general on the Fantastic Four: how did they get started, why they stayed together, the difficulties of fighting alongside someone you care about, the interference of an older sister on your social life, etc.
While Sally knows a lot about the FF, and seems familiar, Johnny can't remember ever seeing her before. Of course, his interests in college ran toward much flashier young ladies.
After about five minutes of interview, an armored, caped figure flies past the window, heading for the roof. It looks like the Lord of Latveria, Doctor Doom! Seconds later an explosion shakes the building, and the hanger level security alarms howl to life.1-100HTYOtpYv

Human Torch
"Yup, that's just how these things go! Stay here Miss Flack, duty calls!"
He moves to the window, opens it, then climbs out whilst pushing the window shut and falling seemingly to his death! He figures it would pull on the heart strings of the young woman even though he's not particularly interested...
A few seconds later he shouts "FLAME ON!" and blasts into life as the HUMAN TORCH, flying up past the window with a fiery trail behind him!
ACTIONS
Flame on! Fly to the roof and see what Doom is up to...

Round 1: The Thing enters the stairwell from the second level weightlifting room and climbs to the third level. Johnny Storm exits out a 2-foot thick window on the first level and falls 5 stories toward 38th street. Round 2: The Thing makes it up the staircase to the fifth level door to the vehicle maintenance area. The Human Torch flames on and flies up 8 stories until he's just outside the fourth level of the Fantastic Four's Baxter Building Headquarters. Round 3: When the Thing arrives on level five, an armored, caped figure chucks the short range Fantasticar ("the flying bathtub") at him! When the Human Torch flies to the roof, he sees that the hanger doors have been ripped open. After rocketing through the hole to the hydraulic lift platform, he sees what looks to be Doctor Doom among some trashed valuable FF machinery in the hanger, throwing the short-range Fantasticar ("the flying bathtub") toward the vehicle maintenance area. [NOTE: The Thing and the Human Torch do not have line of sight to each other.]

Mister Fantastic: The Negative Zone monitors and portal, like all machinery, need careful maintenance to ensure maximum safety. The new system, installed after ANNIHILUS' recent rampage *, can only be opened from the Earth's side, and can survey a large area of the other universe. While engaged in a routine survey, your probes record a battle raging a few thousand miles from the entrance to the Zone. A group of pirates--twisted, mutated things--are swarming over the hull of a crippled ship. Due to the time distortion in the Zone, the battle seems short and merciful. These pirates, so close to the Negative Zone portal, pose a potential danger. A set of double locks kept in the monitor room cabinet would reduce the danger. But suddenly, the top four floors of the building shake from the force of a massive explosion on the hanger level. The security alarms sound off as the automatic defense systems spring to life. Is Reed going to install the safety locks, or go check the explosion? (* FF #256, for those who'd like to refresh their memories--andyman )1-1003N19Tctz

Reed Richards was the world's greatest scientist, but he was first and foremost a family man, and he moved quickly to see to the explosion, looking for the quickest route to the scene.

Invisible woman
Sue sits across from the young reporter and acts very much like nothing else is going on, because she has a hunch. Doom? Openly attacking the roof? Everyone rushing to attack, and this random person conveniently here well past security measures?
With a smile she says, “this kind of thing happens a lot. The boys can handle Doom, he’s not that big of a deal really,” She leans foreword and takes the young woman’s hand, “ “Those are lovely bracelets. Mind if I take a closer look at them?”
Action: As she speaks she forms an invisible force field around herself and the reporter. 38pGAx_h1-100 1-100
