Thing and the Invisible GirlThe Thing exits the stairwell, with the Invisible Girl close behind, but there is no skrull in sight. Mister Fantastic and the Human TorchMister Fantastic backs up, giving the Human Torch a chance to let loose! The Super Adaptoid looks hurt, but then it bursts into flame. It has now duplicated the Human Torch's powers! Mind you, he also flies off the floor, staying out of reach as much as possible (but knows the stretching power might reach him anyway)

Mister Fantastic and the Human TorchMister Fantastic reasons the Skrulls must have managed to reactivate the SUPER-ADAPTOID, that was held in a stasis field in the FF's trophy room on the Fourth Level. The SUPER-ADAPTOID can instantly and completely imitate and retain physical abilities, powers and weaknesses of any super-powered being it can see for two years. The template of the AVENGERS had been erased, leaving only the THING template. So it must have only very recently gained the abilities of the WIZARD and TRAPSTER. The SUPER-ADAPTOID shoots flame at the HUMAN TORCH, but Johnny is able to reduce it's effect enough, so that it does his own fiery form no harm. Meanwhile, the three skrulls enter the time machine and disappear! Invisible Girl and the ThingFrom the Fifth Floor, Sue sees through the floor onto the Fourth Floor, where the walls are marked by blaster burns and large patches of glue. Invisible Girl and the ThingBen finds an alien spaceship is parked on the hydraulic lift. It's engine is running and doors close just as skrulls pile into it. Sue notices that repairs on the roof have not been made since the DOOM replica ripped open the hanger doors and shorted out the security monitors. Mister Fantastic and the Human TorchJohnny overloads the Super Adaptoid's ability to adapt to his heat and flame. Something important inside it melts and the A.I.M. (Advanced Idea Mechanics) creation topples over. Now Mister Fantastic can check where the skrulls went by looking at the time machine's readout.
