With the rest of The Guard indisposed The Legend was on his first solo mission- nothing too dangerous, all he had to do was go to Serrekunda in the Gambia and find out what had happened to the 92 people who had disappeared in the last year or so, all withtin 8 miles of the city, and those outside, in a fairly narrow corridor headng southwards from the city. He was just minutes from Serrekunda, his first mission, his first chance to make a difference, or to wind up infamous.

Solomon was wracking his brain as he flew toward Serrekunda in Gambia. Such an unusual area of the world for him to be traveling. That was fine with him though, the flight across the Atlantic helped him clear his head. He needed to get out of the States. After his mentor/father/best friend in the world had died it seemed all that Solomon could do to hold himself together. After the Guard had reformed the President had "suggested" that he join. What a sick twist of fate. There is no way I can fill his shoes. There is no way anyone could.
Still this mission seemed easy enough. Several disappearances in a very confined area. It would be nice if some of the other Guard members were here but I should be able to handle it on my own. As he neared the coast of Africa Solomon gazes into the sky and remembers the day when David died.
"I wonder if you can see me," whispered Solomon. This time, just like all of the others, there was only silence as an answer.
Action #1 3 stones in flight to move at supersonic speed towards Serrekunda. He will slow to subsonic speed as he approaches to avoid a sonic boom over the town.

Solomon hurtled across the vast scrub-land of Africa, heading alwayds towards the largest city of the Gambia. Even though the city was much larger than the Gambia's capital it was stalled in its growth by its waterlocked surroundings. Unfortunately missing persons were not a new thing in the Gambia, criminal syndicates took glee in beign able to disappear people at will in the Gambia, and other developing nations. That was unfortunately the way the world was- slavery had gone out, supposedly, but it was still there in part. His body felt the stresses of hyper-sonic speed subside as he slowed and began to circle over the bustling city of Serrekunda. People were being people- going about their daily business oblivious to all the wrongs that were going on around them. Humanity was just fantastic.

Probably should make a low profile entrance, thought Solomon. As he headed for the outer reaches of the city he began to search for some where discreet to set down. His uniform, which paid paid homage to his predecessor, would be too noticeable. The navy blue and white suit would look out of place in a nation where metahuman activity was probably rare.
Fortunately he had been prepared for this. Donning a pair of sunglasses and a garment that would hide his differences as much as possible the Legend began to set down in an alley on the edge of the city.

Solomon swung round the city, it wasn't hard to find a secluded place to land, even in the ghetto like structure of the city- no building really higher than ten stories, most single or double storied. Though Africa didn't have quite the concentration of superheroes that America, and the Western world, had, it most certainly had at least as many, if not more, heroes in total. People might not be used to seeing superheroes, but they had probably at least heard of a few, and probably some Western ones too. Within a few minutes he had changed clothes and was ready to be seen on the 'streets' of the city. Even with his 'inconspicuous' clothing on he would still stand out like the proverbial sore thumb- white faces were always a sign- usually for good- food, medical supplies- not so important in the cities, but old habits die hard, especially when life is barely above the poverty line.

Probably should have made my way to a government building to start out with. That's probably what David would have done. They would feed him some political bull crap about being able to handle the situation on their own. Maybe not though. I'll do that later, but for now I want to see what I can see on the streets.
Scanning the streets for someone who might know something Solomon decides to focus his search on those who live on the streets. Maybe they would know a little something. Starting witht the alley that he is in he will look for the first person who appears to be living on the street and say to them.
"Excuse me, came you give me any information about the recent disappearances in the city and the area south of here?"

Solomon began to look around, there were plenty of people on the streets, though whether they were actually homeless or just poor, was up for debate- American sensibilities and experiences made it hard to tell who was the best candidate to talk to. As he walked through the streets he was assailed by what seemed like hundreds of children, all running up to the 'white man' expecting some sort of hand out that the white men often gave to them, thinking they were 'doing what's best for them'. Despite the abject poverty that seemed all around, the people seemed happy enough, going about their daily business. Luckily for Solomon the Gambia was a member of the Commonwealth- meaning that the national language was English, there would be no language barrier here. Though the questioning line that he took got him nowhere, he was pointed in the direction of other inhabitants of the city who might know more.

As the first child came forward Solomon gladly handed her a small amount of money. Then another came and another and another before he knew it Solomon had given out all the money he had with him. He felt so powerless to help these people. David always seemed to know what to do but this was so different. Solomon's great strength couldn't beat the poverty that these children faced. Was his financial aid helping them anyway. Where would the money go? Would it even make a dent in these children's lives? Solomon didn't know.
Finally, Solomon was able to ask his question. "Excuse me, came you give me any information about the recent disappearances in the city and the area south of here?"
No one seemed to know the answer but they indicated a direction in which there might be people who knew more. Solomon's pace quickened as he tried to escape the teeming crowd of people. How did David do this?

"One man can only make so much of a difference." David's voice echoed in Solomon's head- these children could be helped, but the entire continent was suffering from the acts of the selfish empires and nations of the past centuries. Only goverments could really make a difference here- writing off debts, providing aid. Solomon simply didn't have time to spend on these issues. Though he had been pointed in the right direction now, he turned to puzzling out where the possible sources of information might be, in a city like New York he would stand a chance of tracking down the right person this way, however in a place such as this, where he was almost in another world, he would be better placed asking around and pinning down the information that way.

Solomon looks around this strange new city. This was so frustrating! It was so different than anything he was used to and now he was hearing David's voice in his head. That was just what he needed. For a moment he dared to hope that David might actually be watching him but soon dismissed the idea. He was dead and that was all there was to it. The government research vessel that went to explore the blast site said that there wasn't anything there but debris. David was dead and they couldn't even recover the body due to the residual ionic energy.
What am I doing? thought Solomon. This is my first solo mission and I can't even get my head in the game. Solomon began to look around him for people who might know something about the dissappearances. Maybe a religious center. A church or a mosque or something like that. Seems like they would know what was going on in the community. Wouldn't the people there want to be of help in something like this? Failing that Solomon will go to a shop keeper or street vender.

(OOC- "You gotta get'cha, get'cha head in the game!") Solomon returned to his talking, and soon tracked down a minister- the church was small and delapidated but was homely. The minister- a white man, a 'modern' missionary, was doing his best to bring the faith to people who he seemed to look down on. Though he was of little use to the 'natives' as he called them, he was able to point Solomon in the direction of some of his parishoners who had been talking about the disappearances recently. The proverbial net was tightening.

OOC: I'm not quite sure what you meant by "You gotta get'cha, get'cha head in the game!" Finally Solomon felt like he had a solid lead. "Thankyou sir. I appreciate your help," he said to the missionary. Solomon secretly wished he could talk to the missionary a little bit more. Being chronologically only a few years old himself Solomon had not spent much time thinking about the afterlife. That is until recently. He wondered what it must be like after death. Was there anything after life ended? What had happened to David? Anyway there was not time for that now. He had his first solid lead in this case and he was not going to waste it. Quickly rushing out the door of the church, Solomon felt excitement rise within him. He was doing it. He was starting to get somewhere. As he arrived at the parishoners' home he knocked on the door and if they came to the door he would introduce himself. "Hi, my name is Solomon Davies and I am investigating the disappearances of several people from the surrounding area. Your minister said that you might be able to help me." Solomon was nervous. What if this was a dead end? What if these people wouldn't help him? Only one way to find out. (OOC- It's from High School Musical, it's the title/chorus of a song)
Solomon knocked on the door and an aging woman opened the rickety wooden door. "Yes, yes, please come in." she said ushering him in and pointing to a small seat in her one room house. She moved over to a small steel cooker, and began to ladel some form of broth into a wooden bowl and placed it on a tray. She crossed over to him and offered the food to him. She refused to speak until he had taken it. Once he had taken the bowl she began to talk; "The people who have disappeared seem to be completely random. The first 40 disappeared irregularly, so nobody really payed it any attention as they just seemed like the normal disappearances that happen all the time, but then when people in the city started to disappear, there have been fifty-two so far, with eight in the last eight days, the kidnappings have been increasing in frequency, over one a day now it would seem. The only problem is that there is no link between the people, there's only one tiny link- they've all been out at a bar, and they've all happened at night. Neither is particularly out of the ordinary though."

"I appreciate the help ma'am. I'll see what I can do about that. I also appreciate the soup. Thank you very much. Could you point me in the direction of the bar?"
Assuming that the woman obliges, Solomon will begin his journey toward the bar. (If the woman doesn't oblige then we can pick up from here) After walking to the bar, if there is still some time before dark Solomon will find a comfortable place on one of the roof tops by the bar and do a little crowd watching to see what he can see.

The woman looked at Solomon for a second, "No, you don't understand, there isn't a single bar, its just a group of bars on the the south side of the city, the same direction as the out-of-towners have disappeared.
