All --- The heroes find no traces of a Rent-A-Truck around the Elliot Building.
It's now 9:30 PM on a Monday evening in June, 1983 and even this city that never sleeps is winding down. It's been quite a day.
First, a purse-snatcher robbed May Parker in Rathbone Park. Then some punk kids tried to shake down a pretzel vendor for protection money. Soon after, Turk and Grotto tried to steal a suit of Mandroid battle armor from the Krupp building. Moments later, at the same location, the Beetle, Fixer, Scorpion and Radioactive Man ambush the heroes and make off with a cardboard tube and a selectro-pak. The Krupp building caught on fire and Doctor Octopus threatened to destroy the city. All this happened before lunch.
It's now past dinner time and most of the heroes have places to be tomorrow morning.
Peter Parker has to attend a Daily Bugle party for Ned Leeds at 9:30 AM.
Monica Rambeau has an appointment in New Orleans at 10 AM to look at a hydrofoil boat.
Ben Grimm should probably go back to the Baxter Building tomorrow morning and clean up the mess left after the explosion caused by the Fantastic Four's re-entry from the negative zone and Annihillus's machinations.
Steve Rogers has a girlfriend named Bernie who says she's not going to sleep until he gets home.
So will NYC be safe from Doc Ock and his nefarious plans if the heros catch some shut-eye and continue their search tomorrow?
Maybe... maybe not.

* Ben sighs with a heavy chest*
So what shall we do? I know I have some things that need to be cleaned up tomorrow. I bet so do you all?
* Ben figures he could get the mess cleaned up at the Baxter building and then stop in to see Alicia and maybe even see how Frankie is doing. *

All --- The Thing is out voted. The heroes decide to stay and continue searching for clues around and above the front of the Elliot Building. (Recently made more popular by the release of the blockbuster hit movie E.T..) Captain America resists the urge to phone home while Captain Marvel and Spider-Man check the area. Thanks to Spider-man's wall's-eye view, the group now has a slightly better idea of the surounding area. [See map.] Unknown to the other heroes, Captain Marvel had a successful career in law enforcement prior to becoming a super-powered Avenger. She therefore has experience searching for clues and other things out of the ordinary. She's also able to emit soft beams of light when looking around a dark city at 10 at night, which is very helpful when looking for stuff. Monica finds part of a page from a discarded newspaper on the ground. Normally, this type of litter in Manhattan is not out of the ordinary. However, it is a little strange when the date on the one legible article reads 1979. Captain Marvel, perplexed at what she's found turns again to her superior. " Hey Cap," Captain Marvel makes a peace sign showing him the ink," Why would a newspaper printed in 1979 still have newsprint that stains?"

[OOC: aaw, dammit... I meant to spend 2r on intelligence... Oh well...]
"its not... As far as i can see, its a copy of a Globe newspaper. And it is odd, why would anybody want a copy of a year old article... Its actually quit ironic, i was talking to a cap driver earlier about The Globe... Captain Marvel, could you find out who would have access to old news papers? I would guess the library, but you seem to be more skilled than me in investigation..." ======================

FYI: It's 1983, so Cap would say, "Why would anybody want a copy of a four year old article?".

Mini Post for Captain Marvel Only ------------------------------------ Captain Marvel isn't from New York and doesn't live in New York, however not even Captain America knows of her true New Orleans identity. Since she's new to this area, the only way for her to tell what's nearby is to scan the area. However, if the villains went through all the trouble of arranging for McGreed to drop the truck off here, this probably isn't the exact location of their hide-out. That's textbook Criminal Psychology 101: Self Preservation. Maybe someone was waiting for McGreed, reading this old newspaper perhaps?
In any case, it can't hurt to look around. There are mostly offices on this block, a utilities building and a few places to eat, including a soul food restaurant called Josie's. There is also one clothing store where maybe Monica could get a nice pair of shoes but not an old newspaper.
Wait a minute! Back up!
Monica thinks about the words 'soul' and 'shoes'. She then realizes that she's seen the black ink on her gloves before. This substance was on the soles of the Beetle's boots!
[Captain Marvel remains Health 2/3 and Energy 0/9 until the Thing and Spider-Man post.]
