Rogue puts on the speed to get to the blackbird as fast as she can and outrun her pursuers.

At first Wolverine sees nothing but hears an approaching helicopter. The only smell he picks up is that of Augie Hickman, but is that old prospector really a threat?
Well, something is a threat. When Ariel boards the Blackbird she notices an alert flashing on the jet's radar.
Suddenly, there is an explosion so loud that it causes Colossus to drop the last of the breeder bomb debris onto the floor of the Lockheed's cargo hold.
KABOOM!
The blast came from a far distance, but now looking to the sky in that direction the three X-Men can see Rogue carrying Storm and a dissipating cloud of brimstone.

BAMF!
The sound gets Storm's attention even as Rogue flies ahead at full speed. Now she notices the rocket heading straight toward her! However, the sound that got her attention also announced the sudden appearance of Nightcrawler!
Kurt Wagner quickly redirects the missile toward an uninhabited bit of Rocky Mountain before teleporting away again.
BAMF!
Now it's Rogue's turn to spot the fuzzy elf as he appears on the ground 500 yards ahead of her.
KABOOM!
Don't worry. That explosion was 500 yards behind her.
But Nightcrawler doesn't look so good. (If his skin wasn't already indigo, his face might have even turned blue.)

Wolverine grunted; things didn't seem to be going well for their friends. C'mon Kitten, Tin Can. Get on board so we can get to 'em. Somethin' ain't right.

Rogue makes a mental note to thank the blue elf as she figures out what must have happened to the missle that was no longer tailing them. Nightcrawler looked blue. Well, bluer then normal. She quickly formulated a plan while slowing her speed. "Hey Storm! Whacha say we give the elf a lift? Think yah can hang on ta him if ayh come in low?" Rogue swoops down in a classic straffing pattern so Storm can grab Nightcrawler as they pass. While Nightcrawler would hopefully have enough time to see them coming. They would only get one shot. Luckily the elf's agility may help him cling on. ----------------------- Action 1: 3 stones into flight (1 for speed, 2 to carry Storm) Action 2: Nada, the rest is up to them. "No problem there, Rogue. Just give it your all, and leave the rest to me." Storm said as she prepared to grasp Nightcrawler and help carry him while Rogue came in. Between the two of them, it should be easy.

Colossus looks at the piece he dropped to make sure it wasn't overly damaged, but since he wasn't very knowledgeable in how most machines worked, it really didn't make much of a difference. Hearing the engine start up, Colossus moves to his seat and straps in.

Ariel drops Lockheed food and stickes her head wondering what the perverbal hell what that noise as she hears Wolverine she rushes to her seat and start buckling in.

Storm grasps onto Nightcrawler so that Rogue can fly all three of them back tot he Blackbird before the military helicopter and the patrol of 20 soldiers arrive. As Wolverine takes the Blackbird into the air, Ariel and Colossus see the copter about to fire another rocket in their direction. but then a funny thing happens. A rock smacks into the whirlybird, fouling up it's launch mechanism. "Leave them kids alone ya good-fer-nothin' G.I.Joes!"And that's why the X-Men owe their lives to Augustus Hickman: prospector, miner, reclaimer of lost goods and one time super hero. At least that's how Augie tells the story. CONGRATULATIONS!
This concludes Chapter Four: Sentinels!.
