Nightcrawler ensures that he, Wolverine and Rogue take the elevator alone when it arrives. Wolverine hits the 2 button and Rogue hits the 10 button. The doors close and the elevator ascends.
When the elevator reaches the next floor, the doors open and Wolverine sniffs the air on level 2. He smells nothing but a lady with too much perfume, waiting for an elevator to go down. Kurt flashes a warm smile at her before the elevator doors close.
Rogue now looks to see if Wolverine will press the button for the 3rd floor or if he will let the car go up to the 10th floor to Marvel Comics as she suggested.

Wolverine scowls at Rogue before standing back and letting the elevator rise to the 10th floor. He admits to himself that the best course of action here would be to do what the gal suggested.

ding"One moment please," a receptionist says to the X-Men when the elevator opens in the foyer. A sign at her desk indicates her name is Darlene Cole. There is also a man in the foyer picking up some loose papers from the floor. The man's employee ID identifies him as Mike Carlin. Darlene, the receptionist now speaks into her telephone, "Yes, I told him he was not allowed past the foyer without a visitor's pass, but he acted like he didn't even hear me!" "Excuse me sir," the man named Mike Carlin says gently as he gently brushes Nightcrawler's tail aside to reach a handful of copy near his feet. Darlene is still on the phone. "Certainly. His head looked like a skull on fire, but it's green. He was wearing a purple leather jacket and riding a huge cat like it was a Harley." There is a short pause, before Darlene hangs up the phone angrily. "The nerve of some people!"Darlene calms herself before re-addressing Rogue, Wolverine and Nightcrawler. "Sorry for the delay. Now, how can I help you?"

"Yes, miss, we..." Nightcrawler looks around in a momentary daze of confusion at how their decidedly bizarre appearances, then puts on a confident grin, "Did you say purple and green? Mein Gott such coincidences that's just the knave we're looking for. If you don't mind me asking, which way did he go? By the way, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Kurt," he takes her hand and kisses it, "Enchanté, Madame."

Darlene blushes at Kurt's kiss on her hand. All her secretarial policies and procedures are temporarily forgotten as she succumbs to Nightcrawler's charm.
"He headed toward the bullpen down the hall to your left."
Leaving assistant editor Mike Carlin and receptionist Darlene Cole in the foyer, our heroes proceed to the far-famed--but NOT TERRIBLY SPACIOUS--Marvel Bullpen.
There they find Zabu knocking over furniture and panicking writers and artists.

"Rogue, perhaps you could hold our sabre-toothed friend at bay? Wolverine, try to keep the thing's attention so Rogue can get an opening. And for God's sake, let's try and minimize the property damage for once, shall we? Especially since the property is so densely packed here, is this an office or a pigsty?"
Nightcrawler sidesteps the onrush of panicked Marvel employees to try his best to coordinate his allies' attack before he himself joined the fray.

It would cost a Plot Point to add a second distinction to the roll, so both Flippant Fencer and Not Terribly Spacious would apply to the roll. Flippant Fencer doesn't apply to Plan of Attack because it's not a flippant plan or a fencing plan. So the roll would be only Team D10 + Not Terribly Spacious D4 to create a Plan of Attack asset. Is this still your wish?

"Alrighty then, Mr. Pussycat, let's wrassle!" Rogue shouts and dove forward to tackle Zabu as hard as she could. Between her strength and the fact that it had no where to go in the cramped bullpen she felt relatively sure of success despite the foolhardy style of attack.

Sorry, Southern Belle is not a distinction that would help Rogue wrestle a Sabertooth Tiger.
Note: I'm going to be strict about Distinctions because if I don't do this as GM ever player will get either a D8 or a free Plot Point every turn no matter what. I find this to be a game breaking mechanic, so instead a Distinction, Power or Skill will only work if it really fits. An Affiliation will always apply and in some cases this may be the only die rolled and will be taken as a total with a default D4 as the effect die.
Because I came up with the distinctions before deciding that more strict rules are needed for them, I'm open to suggestions from players about changing Distinctions to fit better with these rules. A distinction should be something that the character is very very good at and never or almost never fails at in the comics...it's truly a distinction.
Examples: If Nightcrawler ever needs to save a woman in distress, he would deserve the extra D8 top be successful because that's his schtick. However, I never see nightcrawler as gthe best religious/pious person and that helping him to succeed at anything, so maybe that can dropped. Loooking like a demon has been good for intimidation and also good for problems earning plot points, so that would be a good distinction too.

How about "stolen personality" then as she is using skills possessed by Ms. Marvel?
I still think Southern Belle would be fine though. Distinctions aren't skills, that's what specialties are.

How about "stolen personality" then as she is using skills possessed by Ms. Marvel? I still think Southern Belle would be fine though. Distinctions aren't skills, that's what specialties are. This is one of the things I do not like about Marvel Heroic. Every character rolls a Distinction D8 or D4 to gain a power point, even if they are not doing anything distinct to the character. WildKnight once wrote that this is the GMs fault. It's like allowing a D&D character to use Strength to write a poem. After reading his comment, I found myself agreeing with him. (Shocking!) WildKnight actually likes Marvel Heroic, so I thought maybe if I played his way, I would like it too. Unfortunately, wresting sabretooth tigers isn't particularly Rogue-like or Ms. Marvel-like. DON'T TOUCH ME - If any character tries to seduce Rogue or touch her bare skin, beware, because this distinction can allow her to add in a D8 or gain a Plot Point! This may also apply is Rogue kisses someone making her sad that she can't kiss like a normal woman. SOUTHERN BELLE - (I'm at a loss for this one, because Rogue doesn't fight many Connecticut Yankees. I suggest replacing this with MYSTIQUE'S FOSTER CHILD or EX-EVIL MUTANT for bonuses against the Brotherhood of Evil mutants and possibly old foes from when she was a villain...like Dazzler or even the government out to make her pay for past crimes.) STOLEN PERSONALITY - Fighting Kree? Skrulls? Or did Rogue just absorb someone's powers and she is now fighting their arch nemesis, ex-lover or someone who hurt their loved one? These distinctions would then give a bonus when Rogue is in a distinctive Rogue-like situation. Otherwise, for most actions, not Distinction would be included in the roll. I think this would make it extra epic when a Distinction would apply. And of course, characters are encouraged to use an environment surrounding which would help make fights more diverse with players looking at using the environment distinctions as advantages most of the time. (Less straight punching and more use of unique surroundings.... I hope.) So for this last post, can you think of something that would give Rogue an advantage in this NOT TERRIBLY SPACIOUS area? [Hints - Maybe she can fly over clutter Zabu has to leap over or around. Maybe she knocks over a file cabinet to trap Zabu. These are just two suggestions.]

I suppose she could use the NOT TERRIBLY SPACIOUS distinction. With little room to dodge it would be hard for the tiger to escape her.
