They can't, but what's up with redesigning him so miserably? If you're going to change the look so much, don't do it unless you won't do a shit job. It worked for Mystique.

I dunno, I liked it. I thought it was an interesting take on her look and didn't make her look ridiculous compared to the others. I guess I'll have to see Lizard in action to pass final judgment, but I'm not optimistic.

[nerdrage]WTF have they done with Spidermans costume. Really, who is that supposed to appeal to? It's just a mess. Stripes down the legs and on the arms, web shooter on the outside... Spiderman is a character recognised the world over. Costume changes have come and gone back to the original every time. So why on earth mess with ... unnnh. It's not worth getting wound up over. [/nerdrage]

I, uh, don't see what the big differences are with Spider-Man's suit...?

same here, i dont really care either..but, at the same time it's like; why change it? Makes me wonder, who's sitting at the desk while it's being written and saying "Hey! Let's change his costume too!" but again, i just dont care.

[/nerdrage] Forgive me if I'm wrong, but weren't you defending the (IMO, equally awful) costume changes in DC's Nu52? Spidey's new costume is a train wreck (as have been ALL "replacement" costumes, yes, including the black suit), but no more so than Superman not wearing his underoos on the outside.

I have yet to figure out why they're "rebooting" Spider-Man so soon after the last movies. Even if you could trust that people didn't like the last ones, they still wouldn't be looking for new ones yet. Someone didn't put enough stones in Business Skills, because I'm pretty sure that isn't a good idea. Perhaps they're taking a queue from the music industry where they flood your consciousness with one thing until you don't learn to like it so much as just expect it.

I have yet to figure out why they're "rebooting" Spider-Man so soon after the last movies. It's a contract thing. If they don't put out a movie every so often (I believe it's 5 years), the rights to make Spider-Man movies revert back to Marvel. The Spider-Man license is too potentially lucrative to lose, so they'll spit out a movie as often as they need to to keep it. Which makes me wonder if Marvel ever gets the Spider-Man rights back, if Sony keeps making movies. I mean, they would eventually because the movies have to be theatrical releases and gross a minimum amount of money, and Sony can't keep spitting out throw-together Spidey flicks every 3 years and expect to keep them profitable... but contract-wise, I wonder if there's a termination or re-negotiation after 20 years or something. I know that DC basically shot itself in the foot with the way they sold the rights to the Superman and Batman movie franchises.

Hey! So I'm late to this discussion! I am interested in Avengers and that's about it. This is one of those "pleas don't f**k this one up" movies for me. Unfortunately those are usually the ones they f**k up for me But I did really like Thor. Like REALLY. Every time I have to use a sledge at work it's all I can do not to spot weld a loop to it and swing it around. Maybe stack some rocks on the floor, set up a target and try to do that thing where he was shooting ice at the frost giants. I nerdgasmed at Thor. I was EASILY able to look past the things they did to story that I didn't like.

Well ditching the underpants on the outside was a good move in my opinion, even if Superman looks a lot like the Earth 2 (or Earth wherever) Ultraman (bad guy). On the Spiderman movie, yeah, I think Marvel (Disney) is itching to get back to be able to make movies for it - their most popular character after all. Having Sony knock out movies for it and change all sorts of stuff like origin, costume, web shooters, plus the Lizards strange look and who knows what else, must have Marvel (Stan Lee especially) squirming.
